notes

The hot newcomer TOMOKO will surely add new inspiration to your ipod library that will totally satisfy in every sense.
As a young girl growing up in Japan, TOMOKO was swept by American pop soul music scene since Stevie Wonder's masterpiece 'Key Of Life' changed her life forever.
But everybody including her family members laughed at her when she told them she wanted to be a soul singer.
One day she packed her stuff and moved to New York. The rest is history.

"MY PURPOSE IN LIFE ON EARTH is to keep thriving every day to reach my highest ground.
MY VISION is of a world where people realize their purpose and work together to love, learn and grow.
MY MISSION is to bring healing and joy in celebrating life through the gift of music.
I am just humbled and grateful to be used by God for a purpose greater than myself."

Web surfers may have first much paid attention to her strikingly sexy exotic look in those pictures posted on the profile page. Since she moved to NY from her hometown Osaka Japan, she has recognized the advantage of being a beautiful Asian woman as she calls it 'the oriental women's beauty fever'.
"I don't deny the visual aspect of the business because it is overall who I am. But I want people to recognize my talent too." TOMOKO says.
"I've worked hard to get away from Asian entertainers syndrome. People always thought no serious Asian singers would make it to the main stream, and plus I wasn't even born and raised here. That's why I had to work as twice as hard to break the typical."
After all, you are compelled to say, she is the real deal. TOMOKO ROCKS!!!

TOMOKO has an amazing voice and is a poised performer. Strongly influenced by Stevie Wonder, fans of the Motown legend should definitely appreciate her music too.

  • Tomoko is one sexy singer
    author: Robert Anton

After hearing 'Mercy Joy and the City', my curiosity was peaked enough to go further. Let me tell you this music did not disappoint. Sexy, sassy, and sweet are words that come to mind. With a live band backing and all the things you expect out of contemporary music but with old-school flavor. Tomoko definitely has that sound "where East meets West" and its the best melding of music I've heard in a while. I only wish there were more tracks on the CD. Maybe she's just wetting our appetite for what's to come? I sure hope so.

  • Amazingly Refreshing and Timeless!

This Artist Tomoko is off the charts. I've been fortunate to know this Artist over the years. Since I first had the opportunity to have Tomoko perform/dance at Paramount Studios/Don Cornellius production of Soul Train, I've long since known she would be a rising star with no vision of her light deminishing. Tomoko is a Beautiful, Timeless , Soulful Queen. Here's to your dynamic explosion 2008! Welcome to Las Vegas where I'll be doing all I can do for you Tomoko. God Bless and keep the Energy! Love, Coop!

  • Wow.. she got a lot of soul.
    author: COCO

I can't believe she is Japanese simply because I have never heared any Asian singer-songwriters like this before. She got a lot of souls and deep expressions in her voice yet very easy and soothing to listen, and she has her own sound and style, that's so cool! And she's got an exotic naturally sexy look going on and draws your curiosity even more. In many ways she is one of a kind and you will instantly fall in love with her music and her interpretation of life where East meets West!!! I love her!!!!!

  • TOMOKO Organically Afro Asiatic

This CD illustrates the immense talent of TOMOKO, and kicks off with her single, “Mercy Joy and the City”, taking us back with an old skool “New York City” vibe. This leads into one of my personal favorites, the sassy and sexy “Love Me”. The second standout track on the CD for me is the emotionally charged “Geisha Girl”, a sure hit which has the potential to become a classic track, played and loved in clubs for years to come. As always with an artist of such talent, there are so many highlights on this CD, including the infectious, get your toes-tappin, hips-shakin, “Should I”. The tempo and vibe are slowed for the inspirational ballads “Promise” and “Hold On”, on which the beautiful songstress continues to show off her silky vocals. This is a must-have for all and is an essential purchase for its feel good vibes; as it displays musical styles with a mix of flavas.
