"Steel Tropics With Tom Liston" is the exciting new release from Steel Tropics the most popular Steel Drum Bands on the scene in and around the Southern California area. The Group is quickly getting a lot of attention wherever and whenever they perform.
On Steel Tropics debut CD, Tom Liston is the featured performer on the Steel Drums, blending the "Rhythms of The Islands" with various musical styles, creating Steel Tropics unique sound.
Joining Tom on the group's brand new CD are Chris Wabich on Drums& Percussion and Anders Swanson on the Acoustic Bass. All three performers bring their own unique sense of musicianship to the project, giving each tune a new and refreshing feel. This CD is traditional sounding yet has a very modern feel thrown into the mix.
The listener will encounter such styles as Calypso, Samba, Bossa Nova, Soca and Cha Cha to name a few! The Selections you will hear range from traditional Caribbean tunes like "Yellow Bird" and "Jamaica Farewell" to classic American favorites such as "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" or "Puttin' On The Ritz." All of the songs are done of course with tropical grooves.

Steel Tropics
author: Richard KeithI had ordered this along with "Christmas Paradise" and am enjoying the Christmas music so much that I have only played this one once - but it is terrific and will be heard more often later !! In the -35 temps we get here in Winnipeg, this is heart warming.
grreeeaatttttt CD
author: MoniqueThe CD is great - happy music! I love it...
2nd of this artist's CD's purchased. Just wonderful....
author: Christianna CoomesThis is the 2nd of Liston's CD's I've purchased. Was looking for a steel band CD that was lively but not over the top loud or rambunxious singing. I'm able to pop this into my CD player at work...and everyone walking by really enyoys it--it's changes those moping Monday morning folks and puts a little swing in their step. Liston's style is relaxed yet sophisticated. Another Winner!
VERY pleased! Great music for our boat outings!

Bravo, Tom! A Great Mix of Tropical Jazz!
author: Jim ZieglerI really enjoyed the variety of tune styles and the great playing on this CD. It's fun to hear popular Jamaican and great American Standards done in this style. Having worked with Tom for many years, I can tell that it's up to his usual high standard of excellence.
Wonderful, jazz-influenced, melodic steel drumming!
author: Bill DendleTom Liston has modernized/jazzed up the steel drum without losing any of the wonderful traditional quality of the music. His technique on the pans is incredibly smooth and melodic, and adds a lyrical quality to this genre that I've not heard anywhere else. The rhythm section is impressive also - grooving hard and supporting the steel drums perfectly at all times. This is simply the best steel drum recording I've ever heard!
I really like Tom Liston's Steel Tropics CD
author: Dave BeeryThe Steel Tropics CD is great. I really enjoyed hearing the fresh, new, and extremely melodic style of steel drum playing on this recording. It's really fun to turn it on at work and drift away to the islands. It's one of the best steel drum recordings I've heard.
Sounds like a Tropical Paradise in your own home!
author: Sara CopelandAs a college student who is always trying out new genres of music I decided to give Tropical Steel Drums a try. I found the music to be relaxing and fun to listen to, especially in the middle of winter when I was stuck in a dorm room with nothing to do. My roomate and the girls across from me actually enjoyed the music too, and if we have a Hawaiian (or Carribean)party in our dorm this CD will be playing in the background.
island music with a jazz flair
author: Larry KoonseSteel Tropics is for any listener that appreciates island grooves performed with a strong sense of melody and harmony. Chris Wabich and Anders Swanson provide a sense of groove that makes you want to jump out of your seat and Tom Liston's melodic sense floats effortlessly over the top. The CD is beautifully recorded and the steel drums have a warm shimmer. If you like unpretentious music that buoys your spirits, this is for you.
A great jazz latin collection of steel drum music, with infectious grooves.
author: John BeckerThis CD is wonderful collection of upbeat latin and jazz music, performed by a musical steel drum player. I've always loved the sound of steel drums, and Tom Liston has his own unique sound on pans. It is fun, upbeat music!
