What do you do when you’re not a band, but you’re not a solo artist? You give it a name. I chose, "To Have Heroes", to be that name. This is my "project". Over the past eight years of my life I’ve become friends with some incredible musicians. Some live in Tulsa, some in Austin, Nashville, and New York. Oh yeah, and one lives in American Idol. To Have Heroes is my way of beginning to see what I sound like with the help of all of these different "musically inclined" friends. Right now I’m writing and recording some new songs, and maybe hanging on to a few old ones. There will be new music very soon so please keep checkin' in. I hope you dig it, if not, go somewhere else.

    I can't believe I have done a review about this yet. I had the EP for like a year now and it's one of the records I'm proud of owning. I've been totally addicted to the songs. I had my friends listen to it and without a surprise they love it too. It's extremely brilliant. Hopefully there'll be another one from THH.

    I love the album. Every song tells a story and I want to hear how each turns out. My favorite was Reasons. I cried after hearing this song. I then listened to the rest of the songs and fell in love with Don't Give Up on Us, Fairweather Friend, LA Girl, The Story of Your Life and Better Day. I kept listening to the songs over and over and can't get enough of Andy's music. I put them on my mp3 and listen to them at the gym. Thank you for putting out such a great compilation. I wished it was longer but am pleased with the music I have heard so far. It does leave me wanting more. I hope to hear some more amazing music soon! Thanks AGAIN!

    I just dont get tired of listening to your album Andy! It's just incredible, from the melodies to the lyrics, you nailed everything down perfectly.     I owe David Cook a lot, and one reason is for introducing me to Andy Skib, the man behind this project. To Have Heroes to me is just a sampler of a genuine talent that needs to be discovered.     I rarely buy cds anymore, but knew I needed this one! Based on his work with MWK, and some stellar reviews, I purchased "To Have Heroes" without a second thought. It has quickly become one of my favorites! The writing is thoughtful, the music is great, and Andy's voice is incredible! I've caught myself singing these songs throughout the day. Can't wait to hear more from this talented man!

    As with a lot of people, my criteria for a good cd is if it sustains my interest while on the road. So the first thing I did when I got the EP was to test drive it. And I have to say, it is good. The mix of the songs is great. Reasons and Better Day are definitely radio ready. Good job, Andy! I'm looking forward to more music from you.

    I've had the digital downloads for a while now, but this is the first physical CD I've bought in six years. Not only have I played it over and over (and over) but To Have Heroes also won over all five of my kids, and many of their friends. It's a hard sell to the middle-school crowd, but they're hooked.

    Andy Skib of MWK scores a strong win with his first solo release -- a lovely mix of pop-rock and acoustic cuts that's accessible without being mundane. Standouts include the irresistibly catchy "Reasons"; "Story of Your Life" (which combines smart lyrics and rhythmic drive); and the sweetly acoustic "Better Day." The arrangements here are as professional as anything you'll hear on the radio today; the songwriting is a cut above most work in this genre; and the delivery is heartfelt. It's hard to believe To Have Heroes is the artist's first venture into singer-songwriter territory. I know it won't be the last, given the well-deserved enthusiasm it's generating. Highly, highly recommended.

From the very first listen you will be addicted / mesmerized / devastated (oh, pick your own word). One mark of a true and lasting artist is versatility, and Skib easily and expertly makes the jump from the edgier tip of MWK to this acoustic showcase. I almost never buy both download and hard CD of any music, but in this case it's a must. I am certain I'll be eagerly anticipating every new work by To Have Heroes for years to come. Bravissimo!

    The acoustic feel of this To Have Heroes EP is very much different to the alternative rock sound of Andy Skib's band, in which he is the frontman, MidWest Kings. It is indeed refreshing to see Andy Skib's range and adaptability. The songs are incredibly well written, the musical arrangements just perfect and Skib's amazing voice speaks to you. He isn't just singing, he is connecting with you on a plane only good music can touch. To Have Heroes is definitely something you would want in your playlist. Something you need in your collection. Music that is going to make an impression on you. Music that is going to get stuck in your head and not annoy you; lyrics that are going to connect with you. .... That was a really cheesy description, wasn't it? No worries, while I may be, Andy is not. He is the right sorts of everything, and to put it succinctly: You need this EP because it is amazing. My only complain? I wish it was longer. I wish I had more. And I wish 'Forever' had been included, especially for people without Snocap accounts.     After I became acquainted with David Cook’s music (American Idol Season 7 winner), which was too good for me to handle in a sane manner, I never thought I would fall in love again. Then, magically, I was introduced to Andy. What a gift this boy has! I can honestly say his music is amazing and just like Cookie, I cant believe this boy is not out there shoulder to shoulder with the big dawgs. To Have Heroes EP is simply astonishing (in lack of a greater word to describe it), it exudes talent and genius in every song. I would love to start hearing them on the radio *hint* soon; some stations are in desperate need of good music. One thing I know *kids don't try this at home* if I ever want to leave this world fast and painlessly, I would put Andy’s songs on replay 10 times, lie on my bed, close my eyes and just listen. I am sure the overdose of musical genius and sugary ear candy will induce a massive organ shut down on me. And how sweet it would be to go this way. This boy is THAT good! If you don’t have a copy…. what are you waiting for? No need to think about it, I know you will not regret it!

    This much-anticipated EP just became available yesterday. My copies are on their way to my mailbox. However, I am going ahead to write my review based on the mp3 files I have been listening to, without waiting for the benefit of print materials. To Have Heroes is a "collaboration project" conceived and executed by Andy Skib, the front man and vocal for the truly awesome hard/alternative rock band MWK. Using this "project" as a framework, Skib collaborates with musician friends around the country to produce an entirely new sound rather different from MWK. Skib's glorious voice, which works well in the highly-produced MWK sound, works equally well in the THH format which is far more acoustic. In fact, THH is a perfect format for showcasing Skib's voice: his magnificent voice takes the center stage full-time with guitar, and subdued band and chorus as occasional accompaniments. All six songs in this EP are very well written. (At this time I do not have the writing credit information, however.) They eloquently, without getting angry or desperate, sing of those universal feelings you get when you are in relationships: anxiety, resignation, and contentment. These songs, together with the glorious voice, feed your soul because these feelings are so familiar. You should have this EP in your collection so it is readily available for those days when your soul needs a gentle, quiet, and warm hug.

    I cannot express in words just how creative and original the lyrics are in these tracks. Andy's voice has such a pure and smooth timbre to it that as he sings from the deepest rooms of his heart, he gathers the emotion into a vocal fist and shatters into your soul.
