Love the CD. Have my own, bought this one for relatives in North Carolina. Hoping to spread the word and good music.

  • Can't get enough!
    author: Dana and Ro

I bought this CD from a friend, and now it's the most-played group of songs on my iPod. I use it to mellow out and to cheer me up. It truly is a journey from beginning to end--a story--so I like listening to the whole thing in order. I'm a Tody JUNKIE!! Can't wait for the next installment. Oh, and happy first father's day for Tody in June! Do we hear daddy songs in the future? Keep singing from the heart, Tody, and it will always flow for you....

  • Great music, this guys should be all over radio by now.
    author: Jason

This CD is great. I really enjoyed the tracks on this disk. This guy should be all over the radio by now. The songs have that perfect blend of todays hits and yesterdays timeless sounds.

  • A great sounding recording - good vocs and guitar c/w Jeff Buckley
    author: Ufohead

Don't know much about Today but he sounds a bit like Jeff Buckley (r.i.p) - a high lonesome and clear voice - what I'd give to be able to sing like that! The lyrics are to me fairly generic - that's why I dock it one star. But the band and production are remarkable. This is top notch alt-pop-rock -country. May fave track is I'm Gonna Change. Peace - ufohead

  • Cannot recommend this album more
    author: Space City Rock

From a review in Space City Rock: I hate this album. Seriously. Since the first time I listened to it, anything else I attempt to listen to pales in comparison, and I have to switch back. It's becoming annoying. I blew a $100 gift certificate on iTunes in January but have yet to even make it through two songs on any of those albums before turning it off and putting Tody's album back on. And since I listen to music pretty much constantly throughout the day, it's a real testament to the brilliance of this album. Castillo is a Houston musician, and his album is as near to perfection as one could strive for.

  • Tody Castillo gets to the heart of music
    author: Houston Chronicle

Dreamy arrangements, quiet moments, thoughtful lyrics and haunting Fran Healy/Jeff Tweedy-ish vocals.

  • One of Splendid's 20 Bands from Houston that You May Not Have Heard, But Should
    author: Splendid Magazine

Since getting his start at open-mike nights in local clubs nearly a decade ago, Castillo has developed a solid base of songs and fans. Castillo's songs are alt-country gems with a Tom Petty-like rock influence; they draw listeners in with familiar emotional appeal and open-hearted candor. His new album will make Ryan Adams weep with jealousy.

  • Ryan Adams wishes this was his new album
    author: Swizzle-Stick.com

From a review at Swizzle-Stick.com: Musically, Castillo owes a bit to alt.country pioneers like Wilco but doesn't let the album get bogged down by rigidly sticking to one genre. He owes just as much to Tom Petty's pop-rock sensibilities, and it's easy to compare Castillo's songs to another alt.country rocker, Ryan Adams. But where Adams lost himself (and fans) by believing his own hype, listening to this album gives the impression that Castillo would probably be as humble and honest even if he were someday in a GAP commercial. Like Adams' work, Castillo's songs spark real emotion -- there's something in his songs to which almost every listener can relate. Whether falling in love, mistreating a loved one, or simply pining away for a lost love, Castillo's songs allow brief snatches of familiar introspection. His songs are honest and thoughtful enough to make the listener take a step back, listen intently, and recall similar situations. It's a special quality, and is rare in much of the indie songwriting of today. Published: February 21, 2005
