notes
The most diversified and exciting CD Toby Walker has ever produced! With special guests Bob Margolin (Muddy Waters Blues Band), Ernie Sykes (Bill Monroe's Bluegrass Boys) and many other guest artists, Walker shows off a range styles including down home blues, swing and roots music. Teaming up with the songwriters Martha Trachtenberg (the voice behind Folgers Coffee) and Tom Griffith (producer of Dr. John, Ry Cooder, George Benson) this CD highlights an array of new and catchy songs, as well as bringing new life to traditional standards.
"As a blues guitar player, I am stunned and in awe of Toby Walker's pickin'! Not only does he master diverse blues styles, but plays them with both flash and depth. That's the advanced class -- few players can do both. It's obvious that Toby Walker is one of the most enjoyable artists in today's Blues World."...Steady Rollin' Bob Margolin,
"A real killer with fantastic technique. He just knocks me out."...John Hammond
"An impressive, energetic and tasteful player with engaging vocals. I think Walker is quite talented in the field of Blues and Folk Music"...Bruce Iglauer, Alligator Records
"Man, you're hot, just terrific. Now I'm really going to have to work"....Roy Book Binder
"If you played that guitar any better you'd likely burn it up."...Bob Vorel, Editor, Blues Revue
Little Toby Walker is an instructor at Jorma Kaukonen's (Hot Tuna, Jefferson Airplane) Fur Peace Ranch. Walker has been chosen by Carnegie Hall to present American Roots Blues Music In The Schools.
"Walker has continued to hone his skills as a master blues craftsman and raconteur. He is in fine form throughout, sounding perfectly at ease in the company of others. All of "the others" bring something to the party, that makes the whole more than just the sum of the parts. Toby Walker's latest album does more than it says on the tin: it should be called "Toby Walker plays very well with others"!
Gordon Baxter - Blues Matters
All in all, this is a remarkably well-crafted album that shows Walker, good as he is by himself, plays with others very well indeed. If you’re a fan of acoustic blues guitar, you should check this disc out
Graham Clarke - Blues Bytes
A new CD from Toby is always going to be a bit special and this is no exception!! Another wonderful collection from Toby and one which should have pride of place in your collection under ‘O’ for outstanding!
Ashwyn Smyth - Digital Blues Phoenix FM
Toby Walker Plays Well With Others is a sheer joy. Each cut is a perfect blend of style and technique, each piece of life is explained as only a true bluesman can, with sensitivity, wit and pathos. Toby's new CD is another in a long line of brilliant communication.

Deserves 10 stars!
author: Larry LaVercombeThis CD is exactly what I hoped -- clean sound, superb musicianship, righteous song selection, rich vocals -- what you always want from the "old blues players," but which the old recordings can't deliver in terms of production value. Toby Walker DOES play well with others!
mailman finds it extremely amusing
author: rick bentleyThis is an excellent blues disc. As a mailman, I found "Been on the job too long" hilarious..Ever tour on the west coast?

author: Blues KingThis is a great cd - I feel like I am right there !!! Toby move along the fretboard like mercury on glass !! He shows great speed but not at the expense of taste!! I wish I could play like this, I guess I will have to go to Jorma Kaukonen's Fur Peace Ranch to learn how to play like this !! This ie "Earvana" Blues King
Great CD Talented Musician.
author: Gina and LyleThis CD is one of the greatest CD's we've heard in a while.
A MUSICAL MASTERPIECE
author: L. CranstonIt's a shame that this rating only goes up to AWESOME. This CD is an incredible work of art that no musical collection should be missing. Toby Walker covers such a wide range of American Roots music that it is awe inspiring. Not only that, for this CD he surrounded himselves with the likes of Muddy Water's guitarist Bob Margolin. Wonderful tunes, masterful playing, incredible singing. A total delight. This CD is DEFINITELY a desert island CD. Can't wait for his next release!
Great New Stuff !
author: J.R. AllenExcellent CD, Toby Walker does definetly play well with others. A CD you need for your collection.
A master bluesman
author: Douglas KelbanToby is a master bluesman, skilled in many styles of the blues, as well as country blues and ragtime music. Not only is he an expert musician, but in the tradition of the blues masters, he is also quite a good storyteller and showman. He deserves much wider recognition, and finally seems to be getting it: Get his CD's, and go to the show!!
A TRUE LIVING LEGEND!
author: Deacon Blues"PLAYS WELL WITH OTHERS" is Toby Walker's latest CD. This peerless American roots and blues musician asked some of the best to 'come out and play'!. Bob Margolin, Martha Trachtenberg,Tom Griffitsh, Buddy Mirriam, 'Wings', and others. If you love roots, blues, etc., and can handle hearing music that will thrill, inspire, entertain, and grab you by your heart, don't miss this CD. It never leaves my player.
An Acoustic-Blues-Guitar-Monster with heart
author: J. Chris McCoyLittle Toby Walker is an Acoustic-Blues-Guitar-Monster with heart. He plays with flash, finesse and perfect enunciation. ‘Plays well with others’ offers the same energy as his solo efforts, but with additional flavors of fun. People who enjoy the traditional blues of Blake, Fuller, Jefferson, Owens…etc, will love this CD. Walker should be considered a Traditional Constructionist, a modern guitar player who plays what the original masters would have played had they been born 75 years later.
