notes
T.M. Stevens skill and proficiency as a bassist, vocalist & sideman is legendary. His ferocious, yet melodic, style of bass is as unique as his larger than life persona. In demand as a session player, he is as at ease in the studio, (where he can call upon his many years of experience and formal musical training) as he is behind a mike on stage, releasing his special brand of rock, funk and manic soul. Whether accompanying one of the many world class performers in his resume or fronting his own progressive metal, funk / rock alter ego 'Out of Control'; his is a musical force to be dealt with. He has also recently starred in his first full length motion picture 'Limousine Drive' directed by Masashi Yamamoto for Layline Productions, scheduled for release Februar 2001.
As a recording artist, T.M. has released 4 albums. 'Boom', 'Sticky Wicked' 'Radioactive' and 'Shocka Zooloo' . The first, released in '95, the second in '97 on the Polystar/Polygram label. Radioctive ('99) and the newest 'Shocka Zooloo' and 'Limousine Drive' (Soundtrack) (2001) were released on the JVC Victor label. All written, produced and performed by T.M.
To his credit T.M. also produced and arranged a tribute to the band 'Deep Purple' called 'Tribute to Deep Purple According to New York' with such notables as Yngwie Malmsteen, ex-'Living Colour' members, and P-Funk's Bernie Worrell, to name a few. T.M. has been involved with various big artists, such as Joe Cocker, ("Unchain My Heart", "One Night Of Sins", "Nightcalls"), Little Steven ("Freedom - no compromise"), Tina Turner ("Foreign Affairs"), Billy Squier ("Enough Is Enough"), James Brown ("Gravity"), Billy Joel ("River Of Dreams") andSteve Vai for his "Sex and Religion" album. (See Discography, Concert, Video and TV-Show list.)
T.M. calls his music Heavy Metal Funk, which is the blend of his roots music. Here is the quotation from his liner notes for the album "BOOM", about H.M.F.:
Some of the songs on the CD lean a bit more on the melodic, funky side and others are angry and heavier sounding. The important is that all of the songs came from my heart, guts and roots. From the early days of Delta Blues with the likes of Blind Lemon and Lead Belly, to the very beginnings of modern day Rock'n'Roll , which was carved and invented by the likes of Chuck Berry and Little Richard, are indeed part of my roots.
As an artist, to draw from what these pioneers had started and then be able to add my own ideas to make a sound that's unique to me , is not only a privilege but also an honor. I find that contrary to the marketing strategies of separating the various musics into different categories, new music is created by combining the elements of many styles.
We are all of the sum total of our ancestors (roots) on through our past to the present. Hence by playing, without "over thinking" what I naturally feel, the sound will be more original and real...

It was fantastic!
one of the best
Pravo dooooooobro!

The Picture On The Front Cover Says It All.
author: ChewyFoot Stompin'...Head Bangin'...Booty Shakin'... Body Movin'...And Funky as Funky can be!!!! Watch out Bootsy, cause TM is one bad mutha thumper. From the opening track 'til the last song, this disc is non stop rockin' funk & funkin' rock. And it just proves why TM is a 1st call bass player for some 1st class artists.
Funky metal-groove at its best
author: TomaxTM Stevens calls his music heavy metal funk, and that's just what it is. It's more metal than funk though, mostly rock-guitars in unison with bass. Most of the songs work out from a riff and use the static harmony found in funk songs. The bass lines are excellent, tasty and in the pocket. The vocals are melodic and have some link to James Brown. If you like heavy riffs with a lot of groove, powerful and still melodic vocals and innovative bass playing, this CD is for you.
waouuuu
author: milcathere isn't a word to explain what I feel when I listen GOD alias Tm Stevens . this Man is fantastic u can't feel nothing when u listen and when u see his show oh my god!!! u remember this show all ur life i see him the 1st may 2004 and there isn't a day without i think about Him!!!! this Guy is God i don't find another explanation
A true stage animal!
author: Wonder B (FUNK-U Magazine)This is TM's first Solo album and a great one too. Listen to his version of P-FUNK including keyboard wizard Bernie Worrell straight out of Parliament/Funkadelic. Or the Larry Graham penned 'Hair'... it'll rock you out nof your socks, no doubt! I ain't even talking about the silly double bass battle with Pascal Mulot a french bass player... Awesome! The first time I saw TM live was in Osaka (Japan) and his band had Al Pitrelli, Bernie Worrell, Will Calhoun and Gary Moore... let me tell you they tore the roof off the sucker... Then I was lucky enough to hang out with TM and meet him again in Paris and he's the coolest person you could ever imagine. But his music ain't lukewarm! Be warned! This will send you to another galaxy!
Slammin funk metal from a bassist not nearly well known enough in the US
author: IraBOOM is a terrific example of the now out of favor funk metal genre, best exemplified by LIVING COLOUR, FISHBONE, 24-7 SPYZ and others. Stevens is an awesome bassist and the musicians he assembles for this effort are top notch as well.
bound to send mutha funkas back to the drawing board
author: the soulabhottest licks since____? good production too. bro this thang is bound to send mutha funkas back to the drawing board.
