The Mountain Music Machine

The Mountain Music Machine is an association of more than forty pickers, singers and songwriters. They all live within a sixty mile radius of the intersect point where North Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee meet. To say that these folks are natives of this region of the Blue Ridge Mountains would be an understatement in that most can trace their family tree for more than nine generations in local records. Our first recordings, released in July of 2004, were shipped to 850 Blue Grass and Americana radio DJs and the response has been wonderful. From Main to California the prevailing DJ question is, “This Stuff is Great, where did these folks come from and why haven’t we heard of them before? There in lies the truly unique aspect of the Mountain Music Machine. Their Music is an avocation by choice. The roster will reflect a wide variety of business and professional careers along with their musical contribution to the association. Record labels generally will not sign an artist or group unless there is a pretty strong chance they are willing to tour full time to sell the recordings. Life on the road as a touring musician is not as glamorous as some would like to believe. Given that fact, some very talented people in this association chose business or professional careers and dinner at home with their family over living on a bus and raising their children by cell phone. Three past national champion pickers are members. (dobro, guitar and banjo) The singers and songwriters have a polish that comes from the encouragement of small church support for children with a song on their heart. This area is the birthplace of country music for a reason and it still is alive and well. We sincerely hope you will find our recordings meaningful and to this end web purchases of the various projects can be made thru CD Baby. All of the acts are available for bookings on a limited basis and we will be glad to explore the possibilities on request. I am honored to have the opportunity to bring to the market place some extraordinary talent that otherwise might not be heard.

Great to hear Glenn's voice and the music!

  • Great music by my little brother and all participants.

I enjoyed all the music on the CD. I watched Glenn grow up singing, and the facts behind Elk Church Revival are true. Brother Robbins split the church and created havoc in the community, not just in Glenn's psyche. Most of the music touches nerves from our past.

  • Great---I like it very much.

Great---I like it very much---Who is the lady singing "Send Down the Fire"? She is not identified on the CD.
