notes

TINA LOUISE BARR is a virtuoso performer of the Autoharp, a multi-stringed instrument of American origin. Traditionally, it is strummed as accompaniment to folk tunes and gentle ballads. Tina now gives a whole new definition to the Autoharp by introducing clear melody and high-geared rhythm.

Tina is well-known for a multitude of innovative and versatile styles on the Autoharp. Her arrangements on this recording reflect only a portion of all her musical influences. ROCK-IT 'HARP is a classic collection of fifteen vintage rock and roll favorites. It is the very first instrumental recording release that features the Autoharp as a rock and roll lead instrument.

ROCK-IT 'HARP has been highly recommended in reviews by Bluegrass Unlimited, CBA Breakdown, Dirty Linen, and San Francisco Folknik magazines.

Tina gives solo performances and also performs with her band "TINA LOUISE BARR AND THE BLUEGRASS COMPADRES". Recognized as a leader in her field, she gives Autoharp workshops at music festivals across the country. Tina features a variety of lively styles, ranging anywhere from traditional folk and bluegrass to western swing, Celtic, Latin, or rock and roll.

Totally amazing! Tina Louise shows the true versatility of the autoharp with this recording of rock classics. Highly recommended!

  • Tina Louise is a great player....and she's pretty amazing.

"This is an album of 1950's (and a bit of 60's) pop ballads set to solo autoharp by northern California's own autoharp virtuoso. Tina Louise is a great player, and this recording really shows off her playing--no overdubbing, no other instruments except on the final track, no studio gimmicks--just autoharp. And she's pretty amazing."

I've played parts of this for different relatives and friends. EVERYBODY loves it. Christmas shopping will be easy this year, thanks to Tina. It's about time that the autoharp is moved from an instrument used for accompanyment to solo. A unique performance. I can't wait to order her other CD. Keep it coming, Tina!
