About the music:

1)--Hillbrow Vibes--written by Makinto while on tour in South Africa with the legendary singer Miriam Makeba.

2)--The Township Diary--written by T.K. during his visit to Soweto, South Africa with poet Jayne Cortez.

3)--T-MaK--written by T.K. especially for this record date...Je t'aime mon frere!!!

4)--An African In Paris--written by Makinto. T.K.'s sax solo winds in and around an interesting melody, and finding the far edges of exotic sounds.

5)--A Single Tear Of Remembrance--written by T.K. A piano lead, a decidedly Latin beat evolves, danceable as Salsa. Makinto extrapolates the same theme from track #4, but here the sax is an extension of a vibrant combo.

6)--Leo's Dream--written by Makinto for his son Leo, who is my God-son.

7)--The Caribbean Express--written by T.K. dedicated to his family roots of Trinidad and Jamaica.

8)--Winds of Sahara--written by T.K. The beauty and mystery of Africa can be felt and experienced in the desert. TK leads with his own percussive flair, beside the repetitive drums. This piece was reminiscent of Herbie Mann, with jazz flute dancing en air.

9)--Pinnacle Of Flutes United--by Makinto and T.K. We always play some flute duets in our performances.

10)--Chez Pierre--written by Makinto. With the unique sound of just two flutes and pleasant percussion, this piece is bustling, buoyant, and breezy, like two colorful kites, swirling in the wind.

11)--The Sacred Mountain--written by T.K.

  • This is an example of some of the finest flute and sax playing in the world.

Although TK Blue plays some of the absolute finest jazz around, his flute and sax playing will appeal to a much broader group than just avid jazz enthusiasts. I've never heard anything like it before, and he reaches the heights and depths of emotional expression through his music like no one else.
