notes

After 30-years of guitar playing, Jeff approaches the standard 6 string acoustic guitar with an open heart and mind. Percussive, tap note filled runs over the fretboard compliment original and intricate Fingerstyle arrangements.

Without a doubt the unique 24-string Harp Sympitar Jeff brings is worth showing-up to see. This one-of-a-kind beautifully designed Fred Carlson wood and steel creation is dedicated in loving memory to the music of Michael Hedges.

12 resonating sympathetic strings travel over a jawari bridge then up and through the neck beneath 6 guitar strings. 6 additional, low tuned sub-bass strings round-out the mystique behind the sound that the Carlson Oracle delivers. This instrument at times has sustain reminiscent of a grand piano.

Jeff was born in Massachusetts and eventually landed and was raised in the SF Bay Area. His early guitar influences were Paco DeLucia, Alex de Grassi, Ian Anderson, John McLaughlin and Segovia. He has studied with Ronald Pearl (of the Grey/Pearl duo), Jorge Strunz (Strunz & Farah) and Carl Filipiak.

While Jeff focused his attention on Hard Rock as a youth, he always found a strong inspirational interest in Indian, Flamenco and Jazz Fusion music. Once he discovered Michael Hedges in the 80's, Jeff's approach to guitar changed dramatically. Years later he was fortunate enough to befriend Alex de Grassi and through Alex, he met luthier Fred Carlson (beyondthetrees.com). Thus the Oracle Harp Sympitar was born.

This is an extremely “listenable” album! The guitar work is beautiful and lively, and the accenting instruments bring just enough exotic flair to give every track its own special flavor. I also listen to acoustic guitar by Adrin Legg, Hedges and DeGrassi, for my money Titus is right up there with the pack, and yet he creates his own unique sound. A great addition to my collection, (and this from a first album)!
