notes
An amazing blend of soul, sweet innocence, tenderness and gutsy determination. Delivering a delightful mix of her own songs and covers of some great songs, there is nothing left to do but open your ears to an enchanting sound.
After many years as the lead singer of the folk rock band Dalriada. And after performing at all the major folk festivals in Australia. Ticki has decided to spread her wings and perform without the familiar faces of her band although we can expect the odd visit of one or two members of the band.
Unique, soulful and aching are just some of the words used to describe Ticki’s voice. Emotive lyrics move soothingly across lilting melodies and intriguing lyrics. From smooth ballads to soulful strength, hers is a voice that captures every colour.
Having developed her song writing desires and demonstrating these on the band’s last few CD’s she wants to take a different direction from the band and whilst she is still with the band has decided to try it on her own.

Her singing style has been described as:
“The best sound on the album is when lead singer, Ticki is on vocals… Ticki’s unique, soulful voice moves gently across the words, as it does on her own song “Sweeping Step”. Another of hers, the strong sounding “Good Explanation”, poses some intriguing questions in her lyrics and makes you wonder.”
Steve Strevens, Rhythms Magazine
“This showcases not only the subtleties of the instruments but the weird and wonderful voices of principal singer Ticki.”
Julie Hosking, Sunday Herald Sun
“… Ticki’s vocals are both assured and immediately earcatching on “I Thought I Knew” resembling Kirsty McColl and Deborah Harry while “Good Explanation” a bittersweet ballad recalls Dolores O’Riordan vocally but her own strength carries the day …We have got something serious here.”
