notes

Formed two years ago, Thousand Days was born when Pardis Sabeti stumbled upon a show for the band KAT on a night out. Instantly a fan Pardis, struck up a conversation with the then former lead singer of KAT, Bob Katsiaficas. The brief meeting let to Bob hearing some of Pardis's early demos, and he was equally a fan of her solo work. They bagan writing together, and formed Thousand Days with Dana Goulet on bass and Steve Fortuna on drums. Their musical influences include the likes of U2, REM, Coldplay, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, A Perfect Circle just to name a few. They have had their music played on college radio throughout the North East and created music with amazing producers like Anthony Resta (Collective Soul, Duran Duran) and Paul Kimble (Grant Lee Buffalo, David Gray). The five song EP Headlight Waves is their latest release.

I happened upon this group by accident while watching PBS NOVA Now. The lead singer Pardis Sabeti is a renowned PhD in Biology who relaxes by writing music and leads the band. What a beautiful mix of science and sound in a gorgeous package. Hard to compete with a Rhodes Scholar who has the voice of an angel. Take a listen and you will be hooked also by not only the super melodies but the deep, meaningful lyrics. More please.

Out of the 5 tunes in this EP I like 4 of them. I love Pardis Sabeti's voice and style of singing. The music arrangements are good and the songs are upbeat and make you feel good when you listen to them. I look forward to other CD's from Thousand Days.
