Continuum delves deeper to combine elements of 70's Progressive and Krautrock with other elements closer to Berlin School. An unusual crossover meeting of Jarre, Vangelis, Kitaro and Popol Vuh-- created with vintage analog instruments of the era.

notes
Continuum is the second cd of Gregory Kyryluk (also known as Alpha Wave Movement) and his companion Christopher Cameron. On their debut album Context the duo already handled their analogue and digital synthesizers in an inventive manner. The result on Continuum turns out even better, offering 56 minutes of classic but fresh sounding electronic music.
The 9 tracks are filled with great melodic layers of sound, sparkling analogue sequencing and nice effects, although it must be said the longer tracks come on much stronger than the shorter ones.
Gentle Atoms e.g. is an excellent opener which vaguely reminds of the work of Baffo Banfi. On Solus, where the duo is joined by a guest musician on e-bow guitar, things get dynamic with some massive drum patterns and sequencing. This dynamic impact also applies to Empathic Implant which features some heavy drums.
In all, the very well produced music of Thought Guild is very attractive and accessible, and deserving both thumbs up.

***************
This is the second album from the duo Thought Guild (Christopher Cameron on analogue synths and additional rhythm programming and Gergory Kyryluk on digital synths, samplers, and lead rhythm programming) and it's an excellent follow-up to their debut, [context]. In fact, Id actually rank it slightly higher than their premier release, even though the latter was an excellent disc in its own right. Listening to [continuum] is akin to finding oneself in retro EM/spacemusic heaven. If youre a fan of the classics from artists like Jarre, Schulze, Vangelis (at his best, not his bombastic worst), the late Michael Garrison, Patrick Gleeson, and even Kevin Braheny and possibly Michael Stearns, or if you enjoy comtemporary EM artists such as Enterphase, David Wright, Gert Emmens, and others who weave contemporary EM webs, youre gonna have to trust me on this one and just buy it pronto. You will not be disappointed!

Thought Guild is Christopher Cameron and Gregory Kyryluk (aka Alpha Wave Movement), with Andrew Spurrier on e-bow guitar on one track.
Strap in for a cosmic journey that heads out into space and takes you to the depths of inner consciousness. This music combines celestial elements with contemplative ambience, resulting in highly engaging EM tuneage.
Pleasant tonalities provide a delicate backdrop for dreamy keyboards and astral electronics. Sparkling textures unfurl with infinite intentions. Nimble synthesizers generate a plethora of mesmerizing riffs that undulate and whirl, gently stimulating deep neurons with their sinuous patterns. Chords waft on celestial winds, goaded into looping sequences of crystalline beauty and embellished by meticulous human guidance. Lavish atmospherics surface and pulsate. Congenial riffs glisten as if airborne dew rode these synthetic notes.
E-perc plays a valuable role in this music, rendering comfortable propulsion that is durable without becoming intrusive.
Blending aspects of ambience with contemporary EM, Thought Guild injects a liveliness to their soft tuneage. The compositions are thoughtful and agile, while retaining an endearing fragility. American and European styles are fused to produce a global hybrid that leaves the Earth behind in its quest for galactic vistas lurking deep in cerebral terrain.

The second release from the e-music duo Thought Guild,'Continuum,' offers a powerful evolution of the group's retro futuristic soundscapes. Drawing uponthe vintage sound of their debut recording, 'Context', the new CD offers up a well-crafted continuation of the classic electronic sound and further defines their own sound.
Continuum delves deeper to combine elements of 70's Progressive and Krautrock with other elements closer to Berlin School. An unusual crossover meeting of Jarre, Vangelis, Kitaro and Popol Vuh-- created with vintage analog instruments of the era. Composed live in the moment with minimal overdubs, 'Continuum' offers a magical sound tapestry uniting the old and new in a dynamic, original, and thought-provoking second album.
Thought Guild is Greg Kyryluk (Alpha Wave Movement) and Christopher Cameron. Thought Guild's first CD 'Context' receieved airplay worldwide, including Hearts of Space radio and many others.

The latest CD from Thought Guild, [context] is an exciting retro-synth
CD that showcases a talent for creating live electronica and an
extensive knowledge of classic synth music.
Thought Guild is made up of Gregory Kyryluk and Christopher Cameron.
Kyryluk also records as Alpha Wave Movement and Open Canvas. Johannes
Neuer plays guitar on one track.
On [context], the tracks capture the group's live performances and
sequences. This was the approach taken on many classic recordings by
artists like Tangerine Dream and Vangelis. By recording this way, Thought
Guild seems to be challenging themselves to create interesting music using
the same tools and techniques use by the early synth gods. The result
is an exciting CD that should appeal especially to fans of synth music
from the late seventies and early eighties.
In addition to a museum's worth of classic synth gear, Thought Guild
brings an encyclopedic knowledge of early synth music to their work. It's
clear that Kyryluk and Cameron know the innovative 70's work of
Tangerine Dream, Vangelis, Klaus Schulze and Michael Stearns. Listening to
the CD, the influences melt together, as if you're listening to a lost
collaboration by some of these synth greats.
The CD is very good overall, and especially impressive since it is
recorded live. Also, while Thought
Guild does a great job of evoking the past, they don't do as good of a job
at carving out their own unique musical identity.
