notes
Rob Thorworth, frontman for the blues-rock trios Gravy and RTT moves from high-energy roots rock to the pure form of voice and guitar. Eight years of constant roadwork gave Thorworth the privilege of touring and opening for blues greats Buddy Guy, Koko Taylor, Robert Cray, Jimmy Vaughn, and The Fabulous Thunderbirds. But Thorworth never claimed to be a bluesman. In fact, his rootsy music crossed over enough to also land him shows with The Allman Bros., Joan Osborne, and Widespread Panic. Carlos Santana gave him a "beautiful" thumbs up, and he's traded licks with Warren Haynes and the late Alan Woody of Gov't Mule.
Selling more than 15,000 copies of his first two records, Thorworth received attention from numerous publications including Billboard, Guitar World, Blues Access, Vintage Guitar Magazine and Men's Journal.
In 2000, Thorworth relocated from Birmingham to Baltimore to write and embrace full-time music study.
WINNER: 2004 - On Tap Magazine's SXSW Singer/Songwriter Competition
Out of more than a hundred entrants in the DC area, Rob won the final round of On Tap's South By Southwest Competition, sponsored by Austin Grill, Red Bull and the Guitar Center. Rob won a free trip and the opportunity to play at SXSW, the nation's premier music festival in Austin, TX.
Local singer-songwriter Rob Thorworth's first solo release, "Dig it Up," packs such a punch that you may think you're listening to an industry veteran who had top engineers, producers and technicians at his disposal. The fact is, this disc is masterfully produced, and Thorworth did it himself. "Dig it Up" has a "ready for radio" quality about it, with enough variety and raw emotion to satisfy nearly any listener.
"Dig it Up" delivers a complex selection of songs that show off his seasoned guitar work and soulful, throaty vocals (think Lyle Lovett meets Don Henley). The disc offers up a tight mix of blues-tinged ballads and powerful rock and roll.

author: Bob SimaFolks, this guy can write and sing and play! This CD chronicals a blues guy who turned singer songwriter and did it VERY well. Very compelling songs, very tastefully delivered with a cool rugged vocal style. Great release with Thorworth! Love it.
