notes

Twelve original songs inspired by a year of simple living.

Thom Bergstrom spent a year living in the forest in Maine in a primitive lodge of his own creation. It was a year without electricity, running water, telephones, or traffic jams. It was a year with time to reflect.

These twelve songs document this year of introspection in a tuneful, accoustic and electric guitar-driven pop/rock setting. Thom's broad range of musical influences are evident throughout, complimenting the highs and lows of the songs' lyrical content.

The straight-ahead electric rock of "Forest For The Trees" embodies our distress over the blind eyes of modern man. Country-like "Hard Road" follows with soothing slide guitars and a message of simple wisdom. "Everybody's Down" swings and be-bops along to fairy tale lyrics and "Here It Goes" bares the author's soul over backrounds of transparent electric guitars.

The latin percussion of "One Step Up" shakes and rattles, aloof in an ode to frustration. Other-wordly keyboards and acoustic guitar compliment the surreal lyrics of the ballad "When You Change Your Mind" and forceful trumpets and trombones drive home the inevitability of "The Final Ride." The disc concludes with haunting strains of clarinet in the abstract and experimental "Snow."

All songs written, performed, engineered, and produced by Thom Bergstrom. This is a high quality digital recording.
