notes

What is Radio Plastic Jennifer? It's acoustified punk pop soul. It's sex and race and God and songwriting and art and the end of the world.

It's props to Susan Faludi and Slash and Danny Partridge (and seemingly everyone else) in the stream of consciousness rock-rap of "Six." It's angry sex with an unfaithful lover in the punk-funker "Closer." It's images of Armageddon in a blistering read of Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower."

It's the debut CD of singer-songwriter Bryan Thomas. Come. Get some. And enjoy.

XOXO, Jennifer.

Got this in the mail regarding possibly doing some consulting work. This is a great album. I think music really all comes down to the basic songs and Bryan seems to have a good handle on that. Rarely ever do I get a disc that really blows me away. I decided to check if CD Baby had it in stock because I definitely wanted to turn Derek onto this if they didn't. This disc is excellent. Every independent musician should get it because the production and the songwriting is great. Bryan Thomas has the entire package in place. dave @ kathode ray www.kathoderaymusic.com -- We make a living helping bands make a living. Try www.indiebiz.com for a free music promotion newsletter!

After teasing me with his "Wafers And Wine" EP, Bry-Bry has amazed me once again and really brought home the goods with "Radio Plastic Jennifer". His perfect mix of Joni-esque acoustic guitar, funky ass bass lines and straight ahead rhythm and blues has me listening 24/7/365. I have seen the future of independent music and his name is Bryan Thomas!

TIMES UNION. Albany, NY. In naming Thomas 1999's Singer-Songwriter of the Year (Male), the Times Union (Albany) editors say: "RADIO PLASTIC JENNIFER is a dazzling whirlwind of folk-funk, as Thomas tackles love and betrayal, sin and salvation, lollipops and lingerie. The songs are smart, erotically charged and full of heart -- an all-too rare combination. 'Six' for example, is a dizzying stream-of-consciouness slab of rock-rap with Thomas riffing on everything from 'The Wizard of Oz' to 'The 12 Days of Christmas,' from mood rings to junk bonds, from Loretta Lynn to Guns 'N Roses to Danny Partridge. 'Cycle' cuts even deeper, a tale of young African-Americans struggling against all odds to survive in a hostile world. An epic emotional rollercoaster of a song, Thomas descends from heartbreaking sorrow to bone-chilling terror before finally grabbing hold of a sliver of hope and redemption in the power of love. By the end of the song, he's chanting 'Everything's gonna be all right,' as though he can make it so solely through repetition and his sheer passion... Buy the CD... or get out of the house and see what he can do in person. You won't be disappointed."

GAZETTE NEWSPAPERS. Schenectady, NY. "Armed with a drum machine, an acoustic guitar, and a voice that sounds like a cross between Elvis Costello and the artist formerly known as Prince, Bryan Thomas offers up a powerful, edgy amalgam of music on his new release RADIO PLASTIC JENNIFER. The 11-cut record (with two additional hidden cuts) is hard to peg, an eclectic mix of hip hop, funk and artsy, aggressive alternative pop, propelled by evocative word play that paints wonderfully vivid pictures for the mind. Stand out cuts: 'Anymore', 'Six', 'Nomo' and 'Cycle.'"
