notes

In 1998, Jackie G and DJ Wade(Peter) decided to move to NYC and be roommates. Wade got a night shift job (getting coffee...) at SONY Music Studios and Jackie, a painter, eagerly accepted a job at a wallpaper factory in Queens.

THE YEAH was their basement studio creation on the 4th floor of an industrial loft building in Brooklyn. Wade made beats. Jackie sang along. The goal was to make true reflections of daily life via the poppiest songs EVER.

Their first song was "Come on Let's Go", an autobiographical pep-song that gave homage to their many influences; oldies, indie rock, reggae, hip hop, classic rock, new wave, techno, R&B, folk, country and western, soul, show tunes and top 40. The song was passed along from friend to friend and fell into the hands of Duane at Other Music in NYC. Duane encouraged The Yeah to put something out ASAP...

The Yeah agreed and released a homemade Limited Edition EP that quickly sold out at Other Music. In 2001, the Yeah made their true indie DEBUT with their self titled record, which quickly climbed to the top 20 on CMJ's college chart. The album, like the EP, was only available at Other Music. (Now it can be found on iTunes and any other online distributer)

THE YEAH no longer live together in Brooklyn. Pete has moved his own apartment in manhattan and is producing the likes of music giants such as Jennifer Lopez, Natasha Bedingfield, and Lindsay Lohan. Jackie is living in Brooklyn and showing her paintings around town and in other cities outside of NYC.

THE YEAH has continued to refine their anything goes pop sound. The band is presently "almost done" with their second full-length album recorded entirely in pete's parent's basement and the songs keep getting catchier.

  • Perfect pop ear candy.

Suitable for children of all ages, even the band's occassional word "sh*t" is glossed over by their beats and sing-along vocals. It is almost undetectable except by the keenest of lyrical listeners. A must-have companion for being in the car, on the road to soothe that roadrage reflux which may surface unexpectedly. This is a CD that doesn't need to be worked at to be liked. The instrumental music is genius while the words flow in a catchy way. The duo's tendency to seem like they sing whatever pops into their head gives the listener a sort of intimacy into their private, musical world and makes them all the more lovable. Their "beats" transcends boundaries by successfully having coaxed all those in hearing distance to want to bop heads along to this album. I mean, their name is a phrase of affirmation! What more could one ask for? This is a gem, guys, pure and simple.

  • Turns you into a bobble head

Oh Yeah! This Cd, although short on time is a great romp of what independent people can do with music. Not a great art of composition or masterpiece, but certainly a shining gem of pure fun. It is the kind of music you want to hear while you are cruising or reading a good comic book. Pop without the shame, rocking good beats, and the kind of subject matter that is always floating around my head. Great all the way!
