Therese Michaud is an Oregon native who started playing piano at age six. Generally self-taught, she always had the opportunity to challenge herself, as her mother and two sisters played piano, so there was always a large assortment of music books just waiting for attention.
It was at a small private high school that Therese had the opportunity to expand her piano skills, as the position for school accompanist became available, and she was offered it. She played for all the school’s singing groups and had the extraordinary challenge as accompanist for the school’s annual musicals. It was this experience that led her to majoring in music, completing a BS in Music Education from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA..
Upon returning to Portland, the opportunities to her use her degree were minimal, but her composing, recording and occasional playing engagements continued, nevertheless.
Currently, you can find her playing throughout the year for Port of Portland’s music program, entertaining travelers on layover at PDX. She’s also a regular at open mics and numerous venues throughout the Portland area.
