A mutant blend of Beatle-esque pop, hip-hop and punk that's fucked up in a pretty cool way.

notes
The O's story is way too long and insane to relay in mere paragraphs.
Why not try these fun-facts instead?
1. They are the only band on the planet to have been produced by both PM Dawn and a Cocteau Twin.
2. They were signed to several different major labels and EMI Publishing UK before being chased out of London by a psychotic brick-wielding landlord at which point they returned to their native Brooklyn.
3. They are huge fans of Jay-Z, Elvis Costello, Husker Du, Wu-Tang Clan, their ultra-faves the Beatles, weed and speed.
4. They were briefly signed to Mindless Self Indulgence's Uppity Cracker label and their lead rapper (then known as Drugorious) was thrown out of New York City's legendary Joe's Pub while he was still performing.
5. Drummer, "The Burnman," composed much of the music for Nickelodeon's "Blues Clues" show.
6. The band called the O is still together under different guises.

A long wait - totally worth it
author: CliffI think I'm right in saying that this CD was supposed to be released in 1998 but, for some reason, got shelved by the record company. What were they thinking of? What probably happened was the record company couldn't find a convenient pigeonhole in which to market the music - but that's precisely why this is such a great album. The music is all over the map - classic pop, punk, indie, hip hop - every song is different and every song is extremely catchy. You'll find a different track from the album going round your head every day. This is just a great album and I think everyone who is into hip hop, punk or anything even slightly alternative should give it a try.
The Best CD of ALL TIME!!
author: Jen LincolnThis cd, Is by far the best cd of all time. If I could only choose one cd to listen to for the REST OF MY LIFE, It would be this one. Its amazing how this band is able to mix so many different styles of music and it just sounds unbelievable. This cd especially showcases this. Pick up this album and you will not regret it, EVER.
Creative beyond all belief, and woefully underappreciated.
author: Julius SeizureCreativity like this should have died out decades ago. There is absolutely no one making music nowadays like The O, three guys from Jersey. When one hears this album likened to 'the Beatles mixed with punk rock and hip hop', the initial reaction is 'what the hell were these guys trying to do?' and once one hears the album in its entirety, the reaction is 'what the hell were these guys trying to do, and why has nobody attempted this before?' Not only is the album experimental in the fact that no two songs sound alike, but there isn't a single song on here that won't be embedded in your head for weeks following the intial listen. While certain parts of the album (for example, the surreal pop of 'Get Wasted Time' or the alternative-radio rock of the album's single 'Now'), other parts try the listener's psyche and refuse to exist as simply background music (i.e. the almost unbearably loud ending of 'He Doesn't Love Me Anymore' or the 6-plus minute psychotic, homicidal rap song 'A Celebration'). Everything about this album is creative, right down to the song order (putting a bunch of minor-key, quiet songs in the middle, followed by 3 blistering punk tunes). Go to whatever lengths you must to obtain this album, because if you like music at ALL, then you're bound to find something here you appreciate (though, it's as simple as clicking 'add to cart' now...at one point, a listener would have to hunt down an O fan with all the mp3's). It's worth every dollar, and you're not likely to hear anything like this ever again.
