  • Surprisingly GOOD!

I stumbled on this CD and bought it because I was fascinated with the cover. What I didn't expect was how good the CD actually was. Great rock, blues and even a country flavored tune-all with crossover appeal to many different listeners. The hooks and melodies stick with you and you'll find yourself singing them to yourself when you least expect it. This CD is a jewel in the world of obscure artists....Surprisingly GOOD!

  • This record is a winner!

Review: - The Goo "Love and Loss" Recently released, this full length CD from California's The Goo brings to mind the breezy textures and sophisticated stylings of Dickey-Betts driven Allman Brothers and Slowhand-era Clapton. Country flavored rock blues with sweet female harmonies and uplifting melodies make this record a winner for this coming summer. It is a totally retro mid 70's period LeRoux, Pousette-Dart, and even Pablo Cruise type sound done quite well. David Disanzo Independent Records

First of all I would just like to say, this CD rocks! This CD put's a lot of blues and a little rock together to make this album hard to turn off. And from a person like me who doesn't especially like the blues that is a hard thing to find. This CD has a great beat, catchy tunes, and very interesting storylines. The song Who's to blame has me singing the words over and over. Really like it. Melody Ann is a really sad tune, you can almost hear the guitar crying. Feels like the blues, really feels like the blues. The Goo band jams, buy it...........you'll like it! This has become my favorite album of all time.

  • Not bad, not bad at all!

A variety of style, sultry and intense guitar playing, awesome keyboards and great vocal harmonizing on this album. Definately worth listening to and can't wait for the next album. hint hint!

  • The First Goo Band CD Release is Here!
    author: A Music Fan

The Goo Band comes in with their first entry "Love and Loss" - and all I can say is that I know darn well they sound great live - the album is precise, but sedated - compared to their live sound. The background harmonies are conspicously absent from their live show - but don't misunderstand me - the album is really good, with an 80's feel to it. I give them a blues-rock genre with a couple of serious breakouts into out and out rock and roll (Enough is Enough) - and "Melody Ann" steals the whole show. Of the entire album, "Melody Ann" is one of the most haunting and eerie things I have ever heard. Phil Brewer's vocal is better than I have ever heard him do it live. I'd be watching Brewer carefully in the future. Molinare holds up the album from start to finish with solid guitar work - overtones of Moore and other things I can't quite place just yet. Rausch's bass work is superb all the way through, but I keep waiting for him to break out into harder things - almost as though he is held back. The drums are an enigma. Sometimes Pine's work is beyond anything I ever heard him play live and then other times it's just Pine. Don't know what to make of it. Rick Duncan's vocal work takes the prize on "Still In Love With You". Rick is also listed as the recording engineer for Love and Loss. Buy this CD. I give it four stars.
