If you say "thanks for nothing" to someone on the street, you're liable to get in a fistfight or worse. But say it around northwest Arkansas and you're likely to get feedback about the area's fast-rising power pop/rock trio, Thanks For Nothing (TFN).

Chad Moore, Brandon Hill, and Travis Smith formed the band during Christmas 2003, and, in less than two years, have already played more than 90 shows together.

But this is northwest Arkansas we're talking about here. There's nothing but blues jam bands, emo, and hardcore as far as the ear can hear. How can a band inspired chiefly by A Perfect Circle, Incubus, Aerosmith, Primus, and U2 get even a debut show at a bar, much less play with such national acts as Afroman, the Warped Tour's Off By One, and Leon Russell?

"We try to make choruses that really stick with you and we have a lot of energy at our live shows", says lead singer and lead guitarist Chad Moore. And he means it, too.

For instance, at one show at Fayetteville, Arkansas hotspot The Gypsy, Chad had people jammed to the stage, dancing and singing along. But just singing along wasn't good enough; in an instant, bass player and backing vocalist Brandon Hill had jumped down into the mix, rocking an entire microphone stand back and forth over the audience's heads. TFN and everyone present were connected in the swelling of their own voices over the P.A.

A drum solo of precision and speed wrapped up the scene. Drummer Travis Smith points out: "people come to see bands expecting a great show. That's what we've got to give them."

Brandon agrees. "We try to hypnotize the audience while we're on stage so we can take them all the to that place in our minds where are songs originally come from."

And the boys haven't stopped engaging their audience simply at the live shows. Their debut CD, "Crashlight", lets the fans hear a rare range of emotions - from hot-energy rock to somber beauty - melded together with spacey tracks as deep as a black hole.

TFN is anticipating the future. Chad sums it up best. "Our songs are good. Our shows are good. And, they're both getting better all the time."

    This CD may be the best $10 you will ever spend. These guys will surely make it BIG! Great driving music...roll the windows down and crank it up.

    I recommend this cd for anyone who appreciates real meanings behind lyrics and a full blend of eclectic musical styles. Definitely a disc everyone should get their hands on.
