notes

Terri Roben is a singer-songwriter from upstate New York who plays guitar, banjo and mountain lap dulcimer. She sings and writes songs that are topical, comical, political, environmental and sometimes even about love! She also likes to learn and sing other people's music, unknown or famous. She enjoys and admires instrumental classical, jazz, blues, and percussive music.
Her influences are classical, 1920's and 1940's songs sung around the piano as a child, Beatles, Judy Collins, Joni Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt, Holly Near.
She plays music for adults and children, at libraries, festivals, farmer's markets, coffeehouses, cafes, demonstrations and celebrations. She also loves teaching Music Together, a music and movement program for newborns to five-year-olds and their caregivers.
She believes in supporting local and small businesses and farms, fair trade and organic food, political causes about putting people and the planet before corporate power, and living in peace with each other - viewing ourselves as world citizens.
Terri has always wanted to make music for fun but she also believes music, like all art, is a gift to be used to enrich and empower our lives and ourselves. To find the right balance of work and fun in her music and her life is a goal she feels very fortunate to be able to have as a choice.
