He stands 6-foot-5-inches, natural good looks, with a rare gift. Although his background may be common to many; rout with challenges, insurmountable odds and riddled with inexplicable incidences, he is living an uncommon life. All due to the benefits of his extraordinary gifts, unmitigated competency and tenacious ambition.

Terrell Carter has more to his credit than most have within the life of an entire career. After being noticed while singing at church in Detroit, gospel great Fred Hammond auditioned him and seamlessly Carter found himself working with Hammond and later with a host of others. His classic sensibility and non-formulaic approach can be attributed to years of absorbing the irreplaceable soul in the music passed down to him through the gospel music of the church he attended with his mother and grandmother in his native home town on the east side of Buffalo, New York. His drive and confidence were born from his desire to rise above the despair that surrounded him on the often-unkind streets of east Buffalo.

The strength and unwavering integrity of his musical talent are obvious in his strong vocal performances that are touched by classic R&B rhythms and laced with the truth often apparent in Gospel soul. His vocal range, skilled writing and vocal arranging capabilities, as well as, his passion for the creation of rich soul music have won not only praises from some of the heaviest names in the industry, but also, many request from some of today's living legends.

Terrell's voice has accompanied artists such as Whitney Houston, Faith Evans, Kelly Price and Carl Thomas and famed drummer Sheila E. . He has toured with Fred Hammond, Kirk Franklin, and Yolanda Adams - some of todays most widely acclaimed gospel singers. His diverse style and keen instinct lead him to contribute with artist like Quincy Jones, Patti Labelle, Christina Agulara, India arie,Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Simply Red, P. Diddy, Currently, he is leaving his mark in the theater, acting in Tyler Perry's hit, Madea's Class Reunion,Meet the Browns and Diary of A Mad Black Woman the movie.

    I LOVE this CD!!! I can listen repeatedly. This brother is talented, AND he has worked with my favorite Gospel artist of all times- Fred Hammond! Terrell restored my faith in the music industry when I almost gave up. I lost faith because record deals are not about talent anymore. There is so much trash,vulgarity,lack of creativity and originality... Not to mention that these new people can't 'SANG'! I first saw Terrell in Ma'Dea's Class Reunion. I was speechless.     As a singer, I tend to think not so highly of many vocalists out right now, because some people are making money off of shadowing their lack of "singing" with great music rather than vocal ability, which frustrates me so much; however, with Terrell Carter, to say he is an exception is an understatement!! I love his tone, and phrasing ... it's nice/refreshing, if you will, to finally hear some true talent come to surface, in the midst of all the grime that is floating at the top of the pond.     I bought and listened to his first two CDs before this one, and while I liked those very much, I by far think that this one T.C.'s best one yet. I pop this into my CD player at work and listen to it all day long. The tone of this man's voice is so amazing that I actually feel chills when I listen to it. Songs that go on repeat: 'Better Than', 'Its You' (which will be one of my wedding songs should I ever get married again), and 'For the Love of the People'. 'Thick Girls', 'I Had it Hard', and 'Better Than (Live)' also get a lot of rotation. I could go on and on about how I feel about each song, but I won't.     This is a wonderful CD. I knew that Terrell could sing when he was on Meet the Browns, Diary of a Mad Black Woman and Madea's Class Reunion, but I had no idea he could sing that well. He SANG those songs. The best part is that it was from the heart and his own life experiences. He has been truly blessed from his head to his feet. More people should take to heart the true meanings of Better Than and I'll Treat You Better. And Thick Girls, OMG, what a tribute! For the Love of the People, yet another style and success. Like others have stated before, the thing I love most about the cd is his ability to divulge information about his past and the adversities he's been through in such a poetic way. You actually do feel like you've gotten to know him better after listening to the album. And the cd sleeve makes it that much easier to listen to it also :)!

    I feel this is the BEST CD Terrell has made. The songs are meaningful and encouraging. Especially "Thick Girls". Finally an artist is recognizing the woman with a little more assets. But not just how their body looks...I really respect him for encouraging their self esteem. I had been feeling down since my husband and I had our second child but that song made me look at my physical appearence differently. As I said in my review of TERRELL: The Story, Terrell's lyrics and vocal arranging ability is unmatched by any other artist. Two songs, in particular, "It's You" and "Better Than", moved me to tears the first time I heard them. Other songs are also equally uplifting and empowering ("Better Than", "Thick Girls", "My Life","Sunshine", and many more);He doesn't only cater to women, but to EVERYONE. However, this CD wasn't what I thought it would be. Some of the lyrics are poorly written and lack creativity and the musical production was sometimes amateurish.

Everybody who heard the CD was like, -where can I get this Kat- Most people heard him on Tyler's play but this CD will give you the full scope of what he can do.     We need more musical artists like Terrell Carter in mainstream music today. The songs are so real, I feel like I can visualize what he's singing about. I also have "The Story", that is a beautiful cd as well. The duet with India Aria....LOVE IT! I love all of the songs on the cd, but "Better Than" and "It's You" just blew me away. Keep up the good work.

    Ive always enjoyed Terrell's work with Tyler Perry but didnt know he had his own CD. I recently became aware of his new album and website while reading Tyler Perrys message board. Terrell has a HUGE following there which often comment about his talent and handsome appearance. I really enjoyed the album and give Terrell big props for exposing so much of his past with his fans. Im so happy to know that he over came adversity and is doing so well now. God is Good and as long as you continue to walk in his word he'll continue to bless you.     I have said this time and time again that Terrell Carter posesses a voice that is cleary unmatched. Heis one of those singers that can sing anything and make you feel it. He can sing the alphabet or something like Mary had a little lamb and have saved the lamb's life and there will be no lamb chops tonight (Thanks Whoopi!) It starts off with a colorful intro of him being introduced to his listening audience and eases into the song "Life." I feel like Terrell wrote and sang this song for me because I start my day off with that song because it is so motivating. We encounter a sea of emotions listening to this album. It is very deep, thought provoking, and moving. Here you have a man who has experienced alot of things both good and bad and he has crafted it so finely that musically it is amazing to listen to. While the second album (Terrell) was more commercial and radio friendly it was an amazing record and this is as well but it is not quite as commercial. The songs are deep, mature, and very sophisticated. The different musical elements are refreshing especially since we don't hear much diversity on the Urban music scene these days. With each album Terrell proves why he will fall in line with the Donny Hathaways, Luthers, Marvin Gayes, Sam Cookes, and Stevie Wonders. The reggae inspired tracks are great (Thick Girls and Sunshine) and the song Hero is a winner with its socially conscious theme. The album's lyrics prove that you can make it through adversity and all it takes is a little faith. The ending of the CD is the best part. He covers For the Love of the people by the dynamic Clark Sisters (His favorite singer is Karen Clark Sheard and its VERY obvious) and sings a familiar tune following it. It is AMAZING. Terrell is truly annointed and his voice is touched by God. He ends with a stomp and shout live track from one of his live shows that he shows out on with a special appearance from Joyce Williams (Aunt Sarah from Meet The Browns) Together they sing the place down to the ground. This CD is a must have for any Terrell fan or any fan of real R&B music. Kayla Parker you did your thing sister girl! And Terrell, keep teaching us young R&B kats how to sing. Take care.

    This project is obviously more personal than the last - a natural progression for artists who are anointed to do what they do. My favorite track is It's You and I Had it Hard. Most people come from a past that wasn't paved with gold and to see the fruit you are now bearing is a testimony to God's faithfulness. I love what God is doing through you and your music.
