Album Notes

Tatterdemailion, the Black Watch's eight full-length and third for LA indie pop label Stonegarden, is this critically revered Los Angeles band's unequivocal masterpiece; gloriously poppy, trippily psychedelic, fuzzy as My Bloody Valentine vs. The Jesus and Mary Chain, pastoral as the acousticish albums of XTC, and giddy as the Zombies on double expressos, this record reminds you why headphones--and dance floors--were invented. Two Irish guys, two Americans: one gargantuan sonic assualt (with intermittent palate-cleansing acoustic songlings). Produced by lead guitarist Tim Boland (Soul Coughing, The Young Dubliners, the last three records by tbw). All songs written--as always--by the hyper-poetic John Andrew Fredrick.

great music! Even greater lyrics! I keep hearing new sounds with each and every listen! John Fredrick is quite the poet! The guitar parts are subtle, well-thought out, no having to endure the usual obligatory lead. Quite harmonious all together!

5 Stars Ahoy!

Twenty years of experience has paid off for John Andrew Fredrick and company with this epic new release on Stonegarden. Upon intitial listening I felt as if I had opened up the “Repo Man” trunk. After being momentarily vaporized by the initial one-over, I was able to take the time to give it repeat listenings and sponge up the whole package. “The Angels Just Might Be On Her Side”, “Blue Umbrella”, “Williamsburg” and “Tatty” help fuse all the pieces together into a complex musical mosaic, which I believe is best initially expressed by John’s homemade album cover itself. Highly recommended.
