notes
Tim Brickley is a singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist/producer who the Indianapolis Star calls a musical "local legend", and Nuvo Magazine calls a "pillar of the local music community." His newest album with his musical collective the Bleeding Hearts, "Everything that ever was.", was released on July 2, 2005, and features 13 exquistely-crafted tracks of early-70's pop-craft inspired obsession. Brickley calls the album an "unabashed love letter to the songwriters and record-makers who first inspired." and as such, the albums lone cover is of the Ian Hunter/Mott The Hoople gem "I Wish I Was Your Mother." The rest of the album features songs by Brickley and NYC-based collaborator (and ex-Spin and Rolling Stone staffer) David Rheins.
"Everything" was mixed by the extraordinary Paul Mahern (Mahan Kulpa), who's recently worked on albums by John Mellencamp and Over The Rhine. He did an outstanding job polishing theses tracks. If you like: The Beatles, Neil Young, The Replacements, Bob Dylan, Elton John, Kate Bush, Robert Frank, Wes Anderson, PT Anderson, Allen Ginsberg, Gary Snyder, etc., we believe you may indeed like this album. It will get you 70 miles down the road, bro......
Besides the Bleeding Hearts, Mr. Brickley is a noted jazz vocalist w/ his Quintet and Big Band, composes music for broadcast/film/theatre, and is a producer/engineer at his longtime studio, Hit City Recording. (We suggest you search this wonderful site for two albums he's produced: "Vernon's Mud and Other Favorites" by Louisville's danny flanigan and the Rain Chorus, and "Stories The World Once Told" by Detroit duo Rosetta Pebble....)

Imposter: The Real Merde Speaks Out
author: Jack MerdeThis is the REAL Jack Merde folks of Fun City!, Primo Times, Taboo Magazine, Poor Jack's Paper, and Hot Potato fame and not related to the aforementioned hemphead claiming to be me. However, I do give two roach-stained thumbs up to TB and those Bleeding Hearts -- and I have just hired these guys to host my (aargh!) 35th high school class reunion. -- Merde
Worth waiting ten years for
author: Jack MerdeI'm an old Hoosier Hemphead who has been around the Indy/Bloomington scene since the 70s. Mahern kicks ass mixing Brickley and the Bleeding Hearts like they ought to sound. I liked Be Apart, but I really groove on Everything that ever was. Without You I'm Just Screwed is my fave!!!!
I love the CD. I think Lacy Comstock should have a lead vocal in a song!
author: Deb FoxI enjoyed the CD very much. I am a friend of Lacy Comstock's mom, which is how I came to know about this band. They are new and refreshing - I love the originality of their music and am looking forward to hearing more.
