Meagan, great-niece of guitarist Chet Atkins, and Jason, grandson of pianist Floyd Cramer, revive the musical relationship of their legendary heritage on a beautiful new album, recorded at Nashville's Historic RCA Studio B.

notes

REVIVAL is a new vocal album featuring Meagan on guitar and Jason on piano, as well as a host of other talented musicians, performing an eclectic mix of traditional country favorites, beautiful contemporary melodies, and classic songs of faith. We are excited for this opportunity to revive the musical relationship shared by our legendary lineage, guitarist CHET ATKINS (Meagan's great-uncle) and pianist FLOYD CRAMER (Jason's grandfather).

What an amazing experience it has been to produce this album. We were so fortunate to record in HISTORIC RCA STUDIO B - where Uncle Chester and Grandad worked together on countless hit records through the years - on the studio's 50th anniversary. Plus, Boots Randolph and Charlie McCoy lent their matchless talent to the album, and the project was co-produced by industry veteran Bil VornDick.

What a beautiful album! Chet and Floyd have always been two of my very favourite recording stars, and to hear their musical legacies upheld and continued so wonderfully is nothing short of soul-satisfying! My favourite tracks are "I Can Hear Kentucky Calling Me" (with the delightful added bonus of Charlie McCoy's unparalleled mouth harp)and "Sweet Dreams" where the instrumental talents of Meagan and Jason are beautifully showcased. Let's have more of the same!

Repercussions of “wow” moments result when Meagan Taylor opens her mouth to sing. Few singers can exude such a threadbare innocence as she does on Dolly Parton’s idyllic “Wildflowers” or leap into the jazzy stratosphere of Johnny Mercer’s “Dream” or revive the soulful tenor of the hymn “Be Thou My Vision.” Part of the reason why Meagan has such an enthralling vocal prowess is because it is in her blood. In fact, both Taylor and Coleman come from legendary heritages where Taylor’s great uncle is none under than the late Chet Atkins while Coleman calls Floyd Crammer granddad. “Revival,” their debut album, is also one of the most diverse yet unified albums: who would have thought traditional hymns would sit so well with jazz standard and country and folk numbers? Such diversity is craftily thread together by the album’s understated yet sensitive backings making each track sound as if they were written just for the duo. A superb album from start to finish; this is a strong contender for being one of the most outstanding debut records.
