notes
A sincere and eclectic appreciation of music is evident in their recordings and live performances. Comprised of four members, the Tammy Borden Band has been performing regionally in Wisconsin for about 5 years. Whether it's an original tender song with acoustic guitars, a jazzy and soulful rendition of a classic tune, a soaring ballad, or a spontaneous instrumental outburst, no two concerts are the same. The same is true for the music featured on Doubter's Prayer, a collection of original diverse music to sooth the soul.
"I believe. Help my unbelief." - Mark 9:24 It is this verse that has inspired the latest release, Doubter's Prayer. "I think we limit our understanding of worship sometimes," says Tammy. "Too often we only think of worship as those times when we're on our knees in adoration or praising him with joyful songs. Don't get me wrong; I relish those moments. But sometimes even our questions and doubts can be worship to God when they're offered to him with a sincere heart to know Him more. Admittedly, that has been my faith journey through the years. It's been riddled with questions and unbelief. But God has remained faithful even in my unfaithfulness. It's my hope that this album allows others to be sincere in their struggles and helps them express in words what their hearts have been longing to say for years."

Doubter's Prayer is pure joy.
author: BrianI recently bought the Doubter’s Prayer CD and have listened to it a couple of times already. I have to say that musically it's superb! It’s difficult not to get caught up in the wonderful beats, lively rhythms and beautiful melodies, which are of course not the main purpose of Christian music, but what a wonderfully wrapped package for these inspirational messages. I’m always impressed when singers, regardless of how good they may be, have the good sense to surround themselves with talented musicians. And the musicians on this CD wholly compliment Tammy Borden’s powerful vocals. At times they provide the perfect backdrop for her marvelous voice, and at other times they come full gale to the forefront with their jaw-dropping solos. Among my favorite tracks are Amazing Grace, because I’ve always enjoyed that classic and because I especially like this up-tempo arrangement. (I’ve always thought that spirituals should uplift rather than depress, and I felt great after listening to this arrangement.) I also really liked Molly's Eyes, which to me sounds like it comes right off the stage of an outdoor pavilion in southern France. The guitar work on that song is itself worth the price of admission. I also enjoyed I Believe, because (in my humble and uneducated opinion) Tammy sounds a lot like Whitney Houston on that one, which is a BIG compliment to her singing abilities. And of course Psalm 23 is very personal and touching. I'm sure that everyone will find favorites among the variety to be found on this CD. All in all it's a very professional creation, and what a blessed way to worship!
This album speaks for itself. The instrumentalists play beautifully and the mix of recording is well done. As an aspiring group they do very well. As a sophomore effort it is a STEP in the right direction. The vocalist has a sweet voice when it's in her lower range, but becomes very produced once it's in her upper (No, I'm not talking about the sound engineer's type of production). A very different sound.
