Album Notes

Talk Engine is fronted by spoken word artist Jackie Sheeler-top-5 finalist in the 2005 Great American Song Contest. Performing regularly on the east coast, the band garnered a best-of-show nod from The Village Voice after an improv slot at the spring 2003 Symphony Space tribute to Joni Mitchell. In a recent review, Collin Kelley of Subtle Tea Magazine wrote that "If Lou Reed and Patti Smith had coupled, the result might have been a child like the rocking and raw Jackie Sheeler -- sexy, angry and incendiary." And the band kicks ass in live shows, dominating the stage and sometimes infiltrating the audience courtesy of a wireless mike. Bob Holman, who runs the BPC club in NYC, said it best: "Talk Engine live cooks, burns, and blisters." The band is starting to generate some real buzz around the east coast and is looking forward to planning a nationwide tour in the near future. Reviewers are saying some great things about this unusual new band: Talk Engine's latest record is a good old-fashioned New York City rock album ... personalized and unadulterated, dirty and straightforward, with no two songs sounding alike, and consequently conforming to no niches. It has life in its sound. It pulses. Trust me, this is good stuff. -Boog City Jackie Sheeler's lyrics are enough to send your average bible belt raised person straight into cardiac arrest. Just on the basis of shock value alone, I would recommend giving this band a listen. -Streetblast Radio The one thing that separates Talk Engine from just about any other band is the vocals. The talk-singing immediately grabs the ear. ..somewhere between Blondie and the Sugar Hill Gang, with a Diamond Dave chaser. -Aiding & Abetting

VERY COOL PSYCHY-FUNKY SOUND!!!
author: Robert
This album enhances how rock music should be played and sung in the Ks!!!! I've been waiting for something like this to happen on CD. The songs churned out by Jackie and her gang are BADASS. Salute This kick starts your heart with that psych-surf-garage sound that knocks you out and My Enemy is the perfect psych-blues dubbed with a modern sound. Picture Show kills you at 1st listen. This CD is a MUST for any person who calls himself/herself a rocker. Not to be missed.

High-energy, dark, surreal and tender all at the same time
author: Susan
This CD will take you on a dark, funny, hair-raising journey. It's dramatic territory, with ferociously beautiful vocals & high-energy sounds from the band, surreal, dark and, yes, tender, all in one.
