This CD represents a well-thought-out idea and good craftsmanship towards a very necessary end. As a Vietnam-era vet, I'm glad to see such artists taking a stand on the Iraq war - yet another war that lines the pockets of a tiny few, wastes valuable resources and has made no measurable contribution to improving our society and our world.
Take Me Home
author: Nancie PaquinA remarkable CD. Poignant songs from talented and compassionate artists. Add this one to your collection and listen to it again and again.
VERY POWERFULL
author: Tom StoweThis cd is a very powerfull and heartfelt collection of songs, and I wish music like this was played on the radio all the time as I think it would make for a better world. THANK YOU TO ALL THE ARTISTS as in my opinion there is not a bad song on this cd.

author: Nadia McCaffreyKaren Meredith and I are hugging each other at the end of the video, we both lost our sons in Iraq. I am very touch by the song and the video, I like to buy both. Great work, thank you. Nadia McCaffrey
Wonderful Music on a very disturbing subject!
author: HopeThe video part of the CD was extremely moving. I cried the first few times that I viewed it. Many thanks to the talented artists who worked on it.

A stirring reminder of the work yet to do
author: Carol ShemanskiA stirring reminder of the work yet to do, until peace is no longer sought after, but simply a part of our every day life. Thank you for this incredible collection of talent and emotion. My very favorite...Geoffrey Rutledge!!
Stirring and Emotional
author: Rich RaitanoI purchased this CD and have enjoyed every minute of listening. Take Me Home is a stirring and emotional journey to a time in our lives when the boys we were faced the trials of the men we were to be. It is a painful yet important reminder that the work for peace is never ending.
Nice, tastfully done collection
author: Bill FraterTake Me Home is a 13-song collection of peace songs with a few protest songs too. 100% of the net proceeds support Veterans for Peace in their anti-war efforts. The best known singer is good ol' Country Joe McDonald, himself a veteran and still best know for his Viet Nam protest song, (“Give Me an' F!”). Joe hits Bush pretty hard with “Support The Troops” and Jesse Colin Young's “Peace Song” still sounds good and poignant. Lesser known artists such as Joe Craven, Bob Brozman, Sherry Austin and Joe Paquin check with nice tunes also. The hightlight song would be have to be Keith Greeninger's lovely anthem “Arsenal of Doves". This album was produced by Arden Eaton, a long-time DJ on the legendary KPIG radio. This is a nice, tastefully done collection that doesn't just hit you with the politics. Arden believes that peace is not a political issue, it is a humanitarian issue.
Powerful and long overdue. Words to shatter the complacency of the American peop
author: Rich RaitanoThe voices of Peace are rising...and it is long overdue. Take Me Home is a soul stirring reminder of the consequences of war. I was a medic in Vietnam and watched and listened to many friends as they lost their fight for life and it is painful to see this useless death happen all over again. I plan on purchasing this CD.
Very moving
author: Joe JaccoI do a weekly show of folk and protest music for a low-power FM commuity radio station. I could do a whole show from this CD! I would probably rate the cuts by Country Joe MacDonald, Tired Willie and Geoffrey Rutledge as my favorites, but there is not a loser on the entire disk.
Emotional, painful, beautiful
author: George PearsonI'm a Vietnam veteran, retired military and have been listening to music all my life. I've been watching videos since MTV's first show but I have never seen a video or listened to a record or CD that was at once beautiful, painful and gut-wrenching as Take Me Home. I had a candle and service flag in the window while my eldest son was in Iraq with the Marines(he, like me, is a corpsman). Beautiful but at the same time, heartbreaking.
A nice, thoughtful set ... worth checking out
author: Joe Sixpack, Slipcue.comVarious Artists "TAKE ME HOME: A SAMPLER OF AMERICANA ARTISTS FOR PEACE" (Arden's Garden, 2006) Peace hymns and protest songs have recently crept back into fashion in the folk world, as fury and sorrow over the Iraq War has bubbled up into the mainstream. Some of the artists on this collection have been at it for a while: Country Joe MacDonald evolved from an iconic '60s leftie firebrand into a tireless advocate for veteran's rights. Accordingly, here he records a tune called "Support The Troops"; other songs on this low-key set follow a similar path -- rather than fume at George Bush, per se, they extol peace as an abstract good. Some of the songs are quite lovely, some are quite sad... Along with veteran folkies such as MacDonald, Bob Brozman and Jesse Colin Young, there are plenty of relative unknowns, such as Dennis McGregor, whose reflective "Caught In Your War" opens the album and SF Bay Area local Sherry Austin chimes in with "I Wouldn't Lie To You." This disc probably won't win over anyone who's for the war or who doesn't like contemporary singer-songwriter folk, but for those listeners who are open to the message, it's a nice, thoughtful set. Worth checking out.
This is an excellent collection.
author: undercurrentsradio.netThis is an excellent collection that reminds us how powerful (and these day) lonely it is to hold an unabashed desire for peace in one's heart.
great stuff, didnt realize peace was making a comeback in music
author: John Kelley We the People RadioEvery track, good music, and makes you think. We will be playing the songs and promoting the CD througout my morning drive time show the Populist Uprising live from We the People Radio Studios an Air America affiliate behind enemy lines on KCCT 1150 AM Corpus Christi, Texas. It's A Collection of Community Voices
author: Stuart Thornton, Monterey County WeeklyStuart Thornton, Monterey County Weekly, March 23, 2006. Multi-instrumentalist Joe Craven has only written a couple of songs with lyrics. The string and percussion instrument virtuoso, who recently ended a 17-year run as a member of the David Grisman Quintet ... was compelled to write ... “Setting Son,” as a contribution to {the} pro-peace compilation CD, Take Me Home. The finished product represents a wide range of attitudes about peace and war. Dennis McGregor’s “Caught in Your War” radiates optimism over folky instrumentation, while McDonald is defiant on “Support the Troops,” which sounds a bit like a classic Neil Young number. Craven’s “Setting Son” is an eclectic percussion-heavy piece played on found items, including an old army helmet, and invented instruments like the neck of a bass guitar attached to a jeep’s gas can.
Geoffrey Rutledge, Keith Greeninger strike deepest chord
author: Mark Whittington, San Jose Mercury NewsCD showcases "peace songs" by Jesse Colin Young, Country Joe McDonald, but Geoffrey Rutledge, Keith Greeninger strike deepest chord. by Mark Whittington, San Jose Mercury News, March 23, 2006 I wanted to love "Take Me Home," a new CD sampler of "peace songs.'' But it was making me uncomfortable, and I couldn't figure out why. Then, I had one of those eureka moments. I'd tricked myself into believing I'd never have to hear songs like this again. Not just the preachy protest songs, but haunting tunes like Geoffrey Rutledge's "Take Me Home'' or Keith Greeninger's "Arsenal of Doves,'' which just rip your soul apart no matter what your political stripe. The CD was produced by KPIG deejay Arden Eaton and benefits Veterans for Peace. It's got a new version of Jesse Colin Young singing "Peace Song'' and Country Joe McDonald, who's traded his fist-to-the-head Vietnam rant "Fixin' to Die'' for the more ironic statement of "Support Our Troops.'' Personally, I find most protest songs too preachy. True, the best move you like these new ones from Greeninger and Rutledge. My all-time top five are Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On,'' Bob Dylan's "Masters of War,'' John Lennon's "Imagine,'' Edwin Starr's "War'' and the Clash's "Rock the Casbah.'' But you could make a case for Woody Guthrie, Bruce Springsteen, Public Enemy, Billy Bragg, Rage Against the Machine or Connor Oberst. What are your favorites?
Thank you all!
author: Jim WilsonMy sincere thanks to all who made this CD possible! As a "veteran" of the Viet Nam era Peace Movement, I believe the songs of peace and protest were instrumental in ending the war, bringing the youth to their feet in such numbers we couldn't be ignored any longer. I pray for a similar outcome now. Blessings to you, my dear friend Arden, for all your work...
Wonderful, Beautiful music about an awful pelage on our country.
author: Jake Crow,It's really nice to see so many fantastic recordings by folks trying to make a differance. Beautiful, just beautiful.
Food for thought, nourishment for the soul
author: Val LiconThe music of the artists moves us to reflect on these difficult and painful events. Their energy, compassion, and concern helf to soften the hurt. It's music that is good for the soul.
Thoughts of Peace
author: MichelleThe songs were so varied, it is difficult to catagorize it. My favorite is Arsenal of Doves, but so many others could be my favorites.
Absolutely Wonderful CD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Powerful songs, voices, carrying the message that is so needed....again....sadly....those of us that remember the efforts of the people that fought against the Viet Nam War...this is a reminder. The men and women fighting for peace, the Veterans, the ones that know more than any, the terrible cost of a war waged by corruption and big corporations, can hopefully gain strength from this fine effort by Arden and all involved. Superb music and message.
- author: Monica Griffin, Tulsa Peace Fellowship
Love this CD! Love the artists, the songs, and the cause it supports. Many thanx to Arden Eaton and the artists who came together to join their talents in their various genres in a collaborative effort to give voice to the call for peace.
Absolutely Wonderful!!
author: Kelsey KehoeThis CD has a wonderful mixture of songs from all different genres within the Americana movement and all of them demonstrate anti-war and protest-movement ideals. If only all music artists today would use their vocal powers and write songs like these that can actually make a difference if only small and can defintly get people thinking more about peace for this planet! My heart goes out to all the artists and Arden's Garden for all of their hard work in creating this wonderful treasure.
- author: Wayne Rodgers
I really dig this cd and have to thank you Arden for caring enough to speak out and doing something about a really F**KED situitation that this incredibly agogant, evil, greedy administration has put us in. I so glad that all of the money is going to the cause, cause its right!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!! Wayne Rodgers [please excuse the spelling]
Wonderful idea, wonderful music
author: TeresaThis CD is a complilation of music, of emotion and of deep thought. It should be a part of everyone's collection, especially for those who are devoted to a peaceful planet... My thanks go out to those wise souls who conceived it, contributed to it and got this out to us listeners who feel music can indeed change our world for the better...
A voice needed at this time
author: T jerrellsAs a Viet Nam veteran I cannot say enough about this work. The message is sorely needed and the voice is powerful. Pass it on to those who haven't gotten the word yet. The music is great as well.
Gotta get it!
author: LarThis is one of those rare CD's that everyone must have -- for all the right reasons. Great compilation of artists, excellent music, songs that make you want to cry and go hit someone over the head at the same time...and you're helping, too. 5 thumbs up!
It really tells what is in our hearts of these brave men.
author: Ann WagenerThis is a great CD to listen to. Lots of Love and heart goes into each song. The variety of artist are so deverse and talented. The things I think about the various wars, these song writers put into words, & sing it so clear.
A MUST HAVE CD!!!!
author: K.D. Younger - Armadillo Hall Saloon Radio ShowThis compilation of contemporary anti-war songs is a must have for those who oppose the war and actions of our government in what they have done since starting this conflict. Not since the Viet Nam era has this amount of positive energy to end a sickening and devastating war been gathered together to communicate the truth on the reality of what the task and toil on humanity amounts to in unfair and unjust situations such as what is happening with our troops across the seas. In a time when people do less and less to take an active part to stop atrocities, when a generation that stood so strongly once to stop a similar pattern of human destruction, it is rewarding to know that the universal language of music can still come together and speak strongly with one unified voice once more...and this is a voice we all need to hear and know. This is a must have CD. Get yours today. Play it. Listen to it. And then get involved and end this war.
A spirited, spiritual and moving musical experience
author: Peg O'ConnorThis is a wonderful idea. I referenced this CD in several discussions I've had this week with various people about the war and what we can do to stop it. It raised my consciousness - which just proves that we can all use some reminding. The title song is beautiful - a good choice to represent the overall theme.
A must have for any collection
author: BryanA must have for anyones collection, regardless of their musical aspirations. Love the CD ... powerful, emotional, thought provoking, inspiring. A testament to those who have given the ultimate sacrifice, not only in our time, but for all time. The included video .. reflect on the lives, present and future, touched forever by the inhabitants of those hallowed grounds.
