notes
"With Love is Growth, the singer/songwriter/MC
establishes himself as a multidimensional talent with a unique creative voice that fuses the rhythms of the city that raised him with the soul of the Asian immigrant culture that birthed him."
-OkayPlayer.com
"Taiyo's music gets under your skin like a warm heartbeat. Pure as moonlight, gritty as N.Y.C., brave as a young man standing tall in the face of his own shadows. Paladin, seraph, young sage come-of-age, we welcome your songs into our dangerous, beautiful world."
-Ishle Yi Park
Born and raised in New York City, Taiyo Na is an MC, singer, songwriter and producer who has performed nationwide at venues such as Lincoln Center, The Public Theater, Knitting Factory and many more. Hailed as "undeniably soul-rootsy" with "storytelling through music at its finest," his critically acclaimed debut album Love Is Growth (Issilah Productions, 2008) features the song Lovely To Me (Immigrant Mother), an ImaginAsian Entertainment Original Song Contest Winner. He is also Artistic Director of the monthly Sulu Series at the Bowery Poetry Club and Entertainment Series host for the PBS-syndicated TV show Asian America.

Smart album - Love it!
author: go mavs :)This first album of his is a super smart album! I've heard him sing live and I'm just really happy to see his album debut. This album is one of the most collaborative albums I've heard. And to experience so many different flavors by different artists, you are deeply mistaken to think that Taiyo's voice would be lost amidst the talents. Instead, his musical core and versatility is amplified through various ways of expressing hip hop and soul. Taiyo has a way of making me feel his music with simple beats and complex lyrics as each song exudes emotions so well I can feel where he's is coming from and guess what he's thinking. Taiyo is a great artist, a collaborator at heart, and understands hip hop and soul to its core.
