  • Great CD, Great Playing!
    author: Johann C.

Great Playing and interpretation of the classical sonatas, especially Mozart, extremely well presented, crystal clear strong tonguings, very good! Good accompaniment too!!

  • opens with the spectacular and electric run of the Sonata
    author: Flute Talk

18th Century Flute Sonatas…opens with the spectacular and electric run of the Sonata in C Major, K. 14 by Mozart…Coelho’s playing is clean, crisp, and his tone sparkles with vibrancy. He makes Mozart’s youthful C-Major Sonata far more interesting than is usually possible. The Telemann F-Minor, originally for bassoon or recorder, works extremely well on flute, and the inclusion of the Müthel is particularly nice, as it his only composition for flute…This recording is a solid example that 18th-century solo repertoire is at home on the modern flute as it is on the traverso.

  • One could not ask for more engaging, artistic, or impressive performances
    author: Flute Network

Coelho presents the listener with a wide and representative range of compositional styles from the mature Baroque period through the pre-classic empfindsamer and gallant styles. His playing is charming with a lightness and clarity of articulation combined with a sweetness of tone. His seamless legato and singing vibrato provide an excellent contrast to his fleet fingered and clearly articulated rapid passage work. The solid and rhythmic accompaniment of the piano is likewise musical and clean...Coelho's flute playing is solidly in the current-day tradition of interpretation of 18th century music on modern instruments.) Coelho plays with clear and musical phrasing, intensity, rich colors, and tonal variety. One could not ask for more engaging, artistic, or impressive performances.
