Taalam Acey is considered by many to be the central Spoken Word artist of the current generation. He's published a novel, a comprehensive collection of poems, an award winning memoir and 9 Spoken Word CDs. Taalam has been a full time traveling poet since 1999. Tens of thousands of people own his work and hundreds of thousands have watched him live or via television and the internet. Acey performs regularly in more than 50 cities in the US and abroad. On average, he is on a plane once every 3.5 days. That's 100 flights per year to promote Spoken Word.

Taalam's work has been featured on BET, TV One and in Essence Magazine. Acey was the first person ever selected as "the 1 thing you need to know about" on BET's countdown show, "The 5ive." He has been a frequent guest at dozens of colleges and Universities and has lectured on contemporary Spoken Word at the prestigious Graduate School of Education at UC Berkeley. Acey has twice been featured at the Essence Music Festival. He's been quoted in several newspapers, including the Washington Post, the Philadelphia Weekly and the New Jersey Star Ledger. In addition, Acey's work has been associated with films that have garnered an Audience Award and a Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival.

Taalam is also an accomplished slam poet who has won slams throughout the United States as well as in Germany and England. He was featured in an acclaimed Radio-One London documentary on slam and Marc Smith, the founder of slam poetry, used Acey's work as an example of slam poetry in his definitive book.

    All your tracks on Market for Change I dig, But I chose this one because I can play it in my car, turn up the volume and drive down the hood and watch the Ni$$az fall out. I also love how you pay homage to women. One love.

    Undoubtedly, Taalam finds himself among a rare and very minute group of modern day prophets. Truly gifted, deeply spiritual.I am a clergyman that serves in a not-for-profit organization in Newark, NJ with 18-21year old homeless,abused, addicted, and gang related young people that society has attempted to throw away. Interestingly, although many of them are mentally and emotionally challenged, they connect with and respond to a lot of Taalam's work. For instance, in a group setting one day I played "Market 4 Ni$$az" to stimulate conversation about the current state of hip-hop. Immediately after hearing the piece one young man chimed in and said "yo that shit was crazy tight son - i'm feelin dude!" He went on to say "dude is pullin some covers back with all that truth but heads really don't want to hear that because they caught up in all that fake shit that they see in videos." I commended him for his insight, then went on to show the entire group how this young mans comment had vividly proved Taalam's point for writing the piece. Taalam keep doing what you were put here to do, your work is helping more people than you could ever begin to imagine! From one Jersey brother to another, represent!!!

    I'm such a tremendous fan of Taalam's work and to have what I consider the 'best of the best' compiled in a convenient two disc set is simply a dream come true! These are the only two discs in my CD changer at the moment and trust me they're on HEAVY rotation! :-) I'm trying to put EVERYONE on to this compilation be/c his words can change lives!

    Mr. Acey's work came to my attention via a youtube video he did which is the first track on this album, Market 4 Ni$$az. His voice is needed to be heard NOW because of a lot of the nonsense in the Entertainment industry. He gives it to you on the real, and he does not hold back. I appreciate his poetry, words of art and his over all aura. Definitely check out this CD for you will not be disappointed. Spoken word that educates in addition to entertaining.
