notes
This collection of children's music from around the world is the perfect way to introduce your family to other lands, using the fun of action songs and the joy of listening.
Use the CD for staff training to help teachers, camp counselors, musicians and kids understand other and appreciate other cultures.
Use the music in your school or camp setting since the songs are all "action songs."
Sung by Larry N. Swenson, a children's songwriter and entertainer, from Minnesota and Mexico City! Believe it or not! Hear the Wide Mouth Frog like you've never heard before, done in both English and in "AB!"
The collection includes music from Mexico, Venezuela, Estonia, Japan, Morocco, the USA, Chile, Denmark and Sweden.
You'll find the rhythms of the samba, rumba, mambo, reggae, as well as Polynesian and African beats.
Listen to Hip-Hop, Bluegrass, R&B, traditional jazz, Bowery waltz, and fifties rock.
Exotic instruments include the Didjeridoo, cabasa, the rain stick, and singing drum. And even a few itinerant farm animals have found their way onto the CD!

Love the Wide Mouth Frog
author: Jeanie KirkseyI work and volunteer in a group foster home for medically fragile children. I came across this CD over a year ago fell in love with it. I introduce all the children to it and they fell in love with it too. I will be adopting one of the children soon and needed a copy for my own home. My future daughter is hearing impaired, but she loves this CD. You should see all the children dance, even those that cannot walk for one reason or another. It is good for physical and speech therapy, as it is so lively unlike many of the other dull typical children's CDs.
It's a Hoot!!!
author: David MasonI finally got the wrapper off the CD and played it first when I was working late here. Such a mood lifter and so much fun. So today I played it after the test with my students. I am also sharing it with the Spanish/Language Experience teacher and the art teacher. It's a hoot!
CD is a BIG HIT!
author: Maureen MickusReceived the CD day before yesterday and I am ready to come to Minnesota to let the air out of your tires! Ask me how many times I have heard my kids sing "I like bananas" or "My Mom gave me a nickel....." and of course, my son has developed a whole new accent based on the Wide Mouth Frog dialect! In other words, the CD is a big hit! My daughter's school has centered this year's curriculum and many activities on the theme--small world--international understanding--so I will send the CD back to her school so that she can share it with her class.
Dancing Boys!
author: Dori Williams RiddlerI found our copy of Wide Mouth Frog this morning and threw it in the CD player. When I stepped back around the corner, the boys were bouncing up and down and laughing! It was the first time they'd heard your CD! Thanks for making a couple of 2 year olds and their mommy smile this morning =)
Warning..my kids love it and sing the songs over and over!
author: Bruno LeunenA new war has started on the Belgium front....The Wide Mouth Frog War! A few weeks ago I did order the CD and then War started! When my kids started to listen over and over again, then started to sing in all those foreign languages.... we could not take it anymore. How bad can it be... it can be when I started singing in the office .... and it spreads further when the kids brought the CD to the Boy and Girl scouts! Last friday, I woke up, and my 7 year old son was singing the Swedish song... (with a good accent I must say)... I went over the edge... I bought him a CD player for his room with head phones.... No luck... He then started singing (loudly) with no sound of the music on my side. When will it end? All laughs apart, it was a good buy since they both want to learn and understand languages. My daughter started learning English (on top of her French and Dutch) and my son.. keeps on singing!!!
Two Thumbs Up!
author: Grant Axton--upbeat MagazineFrom the first song, "I Like Bananas," it is clear this is going to be a fun CD with professional musicians obviously having a good time. Most of the songs are just plain silly fun, yet the music is clear and precise. They are easy to sing along with and it is virtually impossible to sit still, feeling the urge with each passing song to get up and dance. Being a household comprised of Up With People Alumni and our offspring, the international flare of the CD is a great learning tool. Our children are constantly bombarded with new songs from different languages with each visiting cast friend, so to learn songs in Spanish, Japanese, Swedish, Danish, and Estonian is fun and educational. It is even educational for the parents as we learn "Jamba Jamba" which is an African chant found in Mexico, a combination I didn't know existed. The words are printed in the CD sleeve so we are able to sing along. My favorite is a Moroccan tune called "A Ram Sam Sam." Just when you get the tune out of your head, 3 songs later Larry and the gang parody it with an ode to American fast food called "A Pizza Hut" sung to the same tune. The title track, "The Wide Mouth Frog," is actually a story/joke that I heard as a child and still plays as well to day as it did when I was growing up. All in all, "The Wide Mouth Frog" is a fun CD that is very musical and rich with toe-tapping melodies. I give it two thumbs up!
The twins are trying to learn Ob language
author: Deanna SinclairStephen & Lauren (age 6) lay on the floor with their ears right up to the speakers whenever they listen to "The Wide Mouth Frog" story...they are trying to catch EVERY syllable!
Hit in the Neighborhood!
author: Theresa MccauleyThe CD has been a big hit in my neighborhood. My 3 neices and nephew and two neighbor kids always want to play it when they are at my house. So I put the speakers in the front window and jam it while we all dance and act goofy in the front yard - the neighbors just look at me - it's great!Louisville, KY
Kids Love It!
author: Dan FristoeThe kids absolutely love the Frog CD. They all walk around with their Walkmans singing along with the music.
