SWEETBOTTOM
THE REUNION

The Sweetbottom reunion was recorded live on December 26 & 27, 2002 at Shank Hall, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This live concert features Sweetbottom's original 70's lineup: Guitarist Daryl Stuermer; his brother Duane on bass; sax-master, Warren Wiegratz and dynamic jazz drummer, Mike Murphy. Keyboardist Kostia sits in on piano and synth to round out the quartet's original sound.

From 1973 - 1975 this original foursome played five nights a week at the legendary eastside nightclub, Sardino's Bullring. Sweetbottom continued on throughout the 70's and led a midwestern fusion movement and garnered a reputation both locally and nationally as distinctive players and innovative songwriters.

This recording brings back the music with the same passion and originality that has made Sweetbottom one of the most unique and enduring treasures of the Milwaukee music scene.

The songs and arrangements are just as you remembered...only better.

A special thanks for the support of the fans, friends and family that made this musical journey possible.

  • Amazing!!!!
    author: Patrick Ferentz

I was a huge fan in the late 70's/early 80's. Just got a wild idea to visit Daryl's website and WHAM what a performance. I'm probably gonna wear this baby out. Now to order Daryl's stuff.

  • Simply Great

I had never heard of these guys but bought the album on the strength of Daryl Stuermer. Glad I did - simply marvellous Jazz and superb arrangements. I will be looking for more!

  • A really fabulous CD from truly Great Artists
    author: John P. Hayden

These Artists have again outdone themselves. As with all Great Artists, they keep getting better. I have been following them for quite some time and I'm still amazed at their abilities to create something new and exciting. I envy their talent, and will continue to do so.

  • Good sounding CD with strong performances by Stuermer & Co.
    author: Steve Bear

I like this CD a lot. Production wise it was engineered and mixed well, especially for a live club performance. Good song selection, and Stuermer's playing sounds as good as ever. Recommended.

  • Just don't get no better...
    author: RockIt Records & Recording

A crisp recording from a band of amazing musicians who have honed their chops beyond compare. A flawless performance captured on a superbe sounding disc. If it wasn't for the crowd noise between tracks (and the drum solo which rarely happens in a studio setting), one might swear this was a studio album. Hat's off to the band for a GREAT performance and certainly to Gary Tanin for his magic mastering artistry.

  • This CD is a MUST HAVE....
    author: Tim Michalak - MN

For those of you that know and love Sweetbottom (or Oceans for you Milw Bucks fans) this CD is a no-brainer to own. If you've never seen or heard Sweetbottom before, this is a great compilation of songs that made so many of us come to the Bull Ring on the Sheik East Side and then Georgies on Forest Home Ave. again and again all those years ago. We may be a bit grayer and a bit wider around the middle, but these tunes will have you grinning like a cruise down Hwy 100 in your (last of the full-frame) 1977 Monte Carlo. I'm surprised its still legal to have this much fun for only 15 bucks....

  • Great album. All tracks exceptional!
