notes
"Sweetbird's music has a timeless quality."
--Paul Avgerinos, Grammy-nominated Composer
Sweetbird's "Free Spirit Reflection," weaves an eclectic musical tapestry that eludes conventional music labels. The band, comprised of Christine Yandell on vocals and Steve Waite on guitar, melds influences from folk, pop, rock and country to produce a unique sound that has an innocence and richness seldom heard in the music industry today. Christine's songwriting is introspective and her voice has a rich purity that has been described as "beautiful," "natural," and "clear." These dynamic qualities are a perfect complement to Steve's unique guitar style and songwriting.
Sweetbird's first release on Broadband Records includes 10 orginial compositions plus a cover of Nick Drake's "From the Morning." Christine and Steve are backed by a host of seasoned musicians including: pedal steel virtuoso John Widgren, drummer Ron Nihoff, bassist Paul Avgerinos, lap steel guitar player Roger Filgate, and Steve Negri on fiddle.
If you like the music of Norah Jones, Joni Mitchell, and The Cowboy Junkies, you will enjoy listening to "Free Spirit Reflection."

I really liked the cd
author: Joel ChevalierI heard some of sweetbird's songs on Pandora.com and really enjoyed them so I ordered the cd. I was not disappointed when the cd arrived. Good job!
Not enough good things to say
author: Chris NicholsonI bought "Free Spirit Reflection" to support the music efforts of a former co-worker, and that's all. But over a year later, it's become a staple of my CD player. I listen to this just as much as I listen to Norah Jones or Ray Charles or Journey or Alison Krauss -- in short, I listen to it a lot. Christine and Steve are not just local-band good, they're good for real. The music is moody and unique, the lyrics carefully crafted and free of cliche. "I Am Love" makes me sit still and listen, no matter what else I'm doing. "Bedroom Community" is a stark reflection of modern society. "Be on Your Way" is downright haunting. "Will You Marry Me Tonight?" makes me want to fall in love again. Christine and Steve care about their music, a fact that becomes undeniable when you listen to this CD. I can't imagine any music-lover not loving this collection of songs.
Exceptional guitar work, Christine's voice is lovely
author: Hunt TaylorClassic Folk, with modern edge and stellar guitar and strings. Christine Yandell's vocals are as pure as spring water and the band is tight and inventive. Broken Heart blues is a soulful take on a classic theme. Tunes are strong. Consistently well produced, should be bought by any serious devotees of folk or acoustic music.
A Gem of a CD
author: RCA good mix of styles and tempos. This group shines in the harmony and the straightforward lyric mode. Equations of Love is possibly the best song on the album, and other songs in this style make this group very appealing. Their attempts at the more "country" sound are not quite as captivating, but then again this may be matter of personal preference. Christine's voice is sweet and lovely to listen to, and the music is well arranged. Overall I like at least 4 of the songs on this album enough to play them over and over again. Definitely worth purchasing, a gem of a CD.
This is a "Must Have" in any music lover's collection!
author: Sharon Anderson-MorrisSweetbird is one of those "must haves" in any music lover's collection; no matter how many times I listen to it, it still moves me as if it were the first. Fabulous!!
Sweet As Honey
