SUZIE MERWINE Country Music, Singer~Songwriter

Probably to borrow the words from a Barbara Mandrell and George Jones duet, “I was Country when Country wasn’t cool”, best describes Suzie’s life. When the entire world was memorized by the Beatles, Suzie’s entire life was focused on those artists that still today dominate her love for Real Country Music. Among her favorites were Buck Owens, George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, Connie Smith, Lynn Anderson, Merle Haggard, and of course Willie Nelson. What she learned through the years from their fine talents has made her the singer/songwriter she is today. Suzie focuses her music around Traditional Country. Backed by excellent musicians straight off the Opry floor in Nashville, TN this unique marriage brings out the very best in each song, making “Daddy’s Martin” very much in tune with the best of today’s Traditional Country Music.
Her song, Daddy’s Martin was recorded only after finding the perfect Martin Guitar in Nashville to satisfy the Opry musicians.

Being born and raised in the beautiful farm country of Effort, Pennsylvania set the perfect stage for a songwriter's mind. Suzie Merwine now releases her fourth album, "Daddy's Martin”. Making way for this release, her last albums, "Cajun Fiddle Blues" and "Bring the Woman Out in Me" saw many firsts in Suzie's career. Between the two albums, Suzie was blessed with six #1 hits including "I Thank you", "Cajun Fiddle Blues", "Please Tell Me What to Do", "Walk Me Thru The Steps", "Mind of A Fool", and "You and Your Baby Blues", which also earned Suzie Song of the Year at Nashville's Airplay International Golden Globe 2000 awards, Female Artist of the Year at Nashville Airplay International Awards, and Female vocalist of the Year through the ICMA of Germany

Suzie's newest release "Daddy's Martin" is being referred to as, hard core traditional and
the best work she's ever done. The album portrays a songwriter's mind, and brings it
together with Suzie's signature Traditional Country Sound, making it by far her strongest
yet. Featuring 14 Great Country Songs, Suzie once again was accompanied by musicians
straight from the floor of the Grand Ole Opry, along with Kathy Lee…one of Nashville's finest background vocalists. Having much faith in their talents, Suzie is backed by the same musicians at every recording session, "It just would not be the same without them, they're my strength in the studio", admits Suzie. Just being released, "Daddy's Martin" has already proven to be an album that is certainly a must to the "traditional country music lover". How far will this album go…God willing, all over the world? At this time in her career, Suzie’s heart is on fire. She is now accomplishing things that at one time she felt only possible in her dreams. She very willingly admits, the folks and fans that believe in her, and the WONDERFUL DJ's that so kindly air her music, are her greatest assets.
Starting her own Publishing Company, Merwine Publishing, in 1998, Suzie is an affiliated writer for BMI, and also a member of the Harry Fox Agency.

REVIEWS…from a DJ’s point of view

Barry Wass, Host of The Honky Tonks & Heartaches Show Melbourne Australia
Suzie Merwine’s – Daddy’s Martin

Right from the opening bars of “Can You Tell Me Where To Start”, you know
that you are in for a treat of Real country music. Suzie's unique voice
takes you through14 tracks, a kaleidoscope of emotive lyrics and honest to
goodness country sounds. Further evolving the promise that she showed with her
album Cajun Fiddle Blues, this cd showcases her talent not only as a great
singer but an inspired songwriter. She writes from the heart and sings
about the ups and downs of love that most of us can empathize with.
The title song, “Daddy’s Martin” displays the theme that traditional country music likes to show and with the inclusion of Johnny Counterfeit, makes this a stand out
track. Accompanied by a first rate band of musicians with Wayne Bridge
replacing Jim Vest on steel and Stan Smith on drums the group is led once
again by Mike Baker on guitar. Tim Atwood, David Russell, Dave Rowe and John
Heinrich to complete a tight backing group, many being musicians off the floor of the Grand Ole Opry.

Suzie Merwine is another of those singers who as yet have been ignored by
major labels. Make no mistake however she has displayed the talent and
tenacity that keeps Real Country music alive and kicking.

Suzie Merwine’s – Daddy’s Martin

Suzie Merwine´s latest CD ”Daddy´s Martin” is her fourth and definitely the best.
The CD contains 14 tracks of which Suzie wrote all but one herself. Track 3, 4, and 9 goes directly to my heart. The title track, “Daddy´s Martin”, with Johnny Counterfeit, is outstanding.
Together with excellent studio musicians and backup vocals, Suzie Merwine´s CD, “Daddy’s Martin” is a real treat. If she ever decides to release another CD in this genuine country music style, this one will be really hard to beat. Just sit back and enjoy! Peter Ahlm Dj - Radio Viking - Sweden

I meet Suzie in Person back in 1999. Coming from Switzerland via Chicago on a road trip. At this time it was possible to travel free in the States, it was before 9/11 ! The highlight of my visit was the meeting with now world famous country Singer Star Suzie Merwine. Meeting was arranged by brother Rick, and till today I often listen to the tunes of HER voice when driving in my Buick around Lake of Zurich back here in good old Switzerland in the center of Europe. I does everybody recommend to hear and buy Her Songs on CD or over download in www.

A review of Suzie Merwine's Daddy's Martin written by: Suzie Merwine Then I was introduced to the amazing Suzie Merwine...well I became a fan instantly! The quality of her songwriting is exceptional and deeply creative as well as entertaining. Equally impressive is her vocal talents! You can hear the deep influence of that great traditional country sound. My favorite absolutely go nuts over song is Suzie's song Daddy's Martin the craftmanship is outstanding. Suzie's clever reference of Johnny first of all gives us the vision of Johnny Cash instantly..that awesome man in black! This song is absolute poetry in motion. Love the guitar and total sounds of steel. Excellent touch with Johnny C. joining in on this song. I had my folks listen to Suzie's cd and with total amazement my dad said how extremely impressed he was with this young woman Suzie Merwine. Both of my parents asked me that famous question (however that I hear alot about 1st time listeners to an independent artist) "Why haven't we heard Suzie before? She should be on The Grand Ole Opry!" Yes I agree with my parents...Suzie has been blessed with a huge Godgiven Talent and yes should be heard on The Grand Ole Opry! And YES Daddy's Martin is a true blue classic that needs to be heard by all country music lovers! Country Rose giving 2 thumbs up for excellence in songwriting and vocal abilities! Bravo Suzie!! Sincerely, Country Rose

  • This Is A Sensational Traditional Country Music CD! Get IT!!
    author: Mike Mikels PD/MD

"Daddy's Martin" by Suzie Merwine is an excellent CD from beginning to end. Suzie's talent as a great songwriter is evident as she composed all the tracks but one. Her stature as a singer shines as she makes you even forget the Conway Twitty version of "It's Only Make Believe." She literally makes the song her own. The title song is by far the best tribute to Johnny Cash this DJ has heard and it was written and recorded before his untimely passing. This puts it way ahead of all the other tributes which came out later. There are many standout performances which deserve radio's attention! This is a CD which should be in every Country radio station's library and also very often in the on-air CD player! One can only hope that there will be future CDs from this marvelous country singer.

  • Don't miss this album!
    author: Judy Welden

It is difficult to pick a favorite song from this great album. Suzie puts her heart and soul into each song, from the lyrics, to her heartfelt rendition of it. You can tell she's lived these songs, and few can sing traditional country with the experience and emotion that she does with apparent ease! After you check out a few of the songs, consider owning the album and be sure to check out Suzie's website. She is a talented artist/songwriter who deserves every success that has come her way and that which is yet to come.
