notes

Susie’s album, Kalypso, is a collection of original and cover songs that embody the genres of Americana, country, and folk-rock. In performance, her repertoire features her own compositions and songs that have been recorded by Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt, Allison Krauss, Martina McBride, Judy Collins, Stevie Nicks, James Taylor, Kenny Loggins, Willie Nelson, Shake Russell, and other distinguished artists. She has performed in venues across Texas, New Mexico, Vermont, New Hampshire, and New York.

Originally from New Hampshire, Susie moved to Texas in 1984 and now resides in Horseshoe Bay with her husband and their two sons. Her singing career began at the age of 7 in church and school choirs. When 12, she received a used Yamaha guitar and, after learning the basics from a friend, accompanied herself in a school talent show. A year later, her father built a Heathkit organ and Susie enrolled in formal keyboard lessons, emulating pop/folk legends Emmylou Harris, Stevie Nicks, and Linda Ronstadt. After moving to Texas, she became enamored with the musical genius of singer-songwriter Shake Russell.

A Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Texas-San Antonio, Susie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts degree at the Bread Loaf School of English in Middlebury, Vermont. For this former marathoner, running remains a vital part of her daily routine. Writing is yet another passion that Susie enjoys. In addition to songwriting, she also writes poetry and is working on her first novel.
