notes
Susan Cantey is an award winning mathematics teacher and song writer. She has taught grades 7 through 12 at Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati Ohio (ranked as one of the top 100 high schools nationally) for thirty years and at the college level during more than twenty of those years. Calculus is her favorite course to teach.
In the summer of 2007, Susan combined her two talents to write 26 songs which cover all the rules, theorems, definitions and methods necessary for success in a first year calculus course. The first song, "Climbing the Tree of Calculus" is her 2008 AP Calculus BC class theme song. The idea for that song was actually suggested by one of her students: Reed LaBotz. The middle 24 songs will help your favorite calculus student review for tests with music! The last song is an ode to the magnificence of calculus itself.
Susan has included a variety of styles from rock to classical. You will enjoy listening to these songs, regardless of your mathematical expertise.
This CD is an ideal gift for top High School Seniors or College students who want to put a little fun into their calculus studies. The full text for these songs will be available at Susan's CPS web page until 2013 when she plans to retire. http://homelink.cps-k12.org
