notes

Road Cat Records recording artists, Sunspot, are redefining punk and rock for the 21st century. A raw blend of massive hooks with explosive lead guitars, three-part harmonies with smart lyrics, and visceral energy with take-no-prisoners honesty, Sunspot's music is designed to make you think, feel, and believe in the power of rock n' roll. Their new album, "Loser of The Year", is being released on the Midwest-based, fiercely independent label, Road Cat Records. Co-produced with label president, AJ Love, and recorded at both Madison's world-famous Smart Studios and Studio Earth, "Loser of The Year" expands upon Sunspot's distinctive sound and serves up twelve intelligent, memorable, and passionate songs.

Sunspot has found critical success as well. The Milwaukee Leader says "Sunspot brings thought to rock and roll... inspirational... powerful... a style of rock that generates energy and makes the listener feel like bouncing along." Vitaminic calls them "pure rock and roll adrenaline". SOSMusic NYC says Sunspot knows "how to write a memorable hook" and adds, "they're ready for mass consumption." GodsofMusic.com says Sunspot is a band with "edge" that "rocks the joint."

Sunspot has shared the stage with several national acts including Virgin Records' US Crush, SubPop's Hot Hot Heat, and GarageBand.com winners Monovox. Punk legend Milo Aukerman recently joined Sunspot on stage for a rousing rendition of the Descendents' classic, "Hope."

Vocalist/Bassist Mike Huberty and Lead Guitarist Ben Jaeger joined forces in their early teens. They found their true partner in Drummer Wendy Lynn Staats in 1996, meeting her at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Together, they share a musical vision to blend the best and most passionate ingredients of punk, alternative, and metal to create an intense rock and roll cocktail.

Road Cat Records is releasing "Loser of The Year" and Sunspot can currently be found bringing their intense and energetic live act to larger and more diverse audiences all over the country.

their sophmore cd is there best cd by far. They brought back a few of my favorite songs on this album. For instance, Loser of the year and Prozac girl. yeah! though i must say their 11th track is my favorite. i believe it's call when the revolution comes??? not completely sure on that. But this album has shown how much their music has matured and i hope they hit it big. And i'd like to seem them come back to Rockford, IL on their next tour so i can see them once again. i loved their live proformance. I have nothing bad to say about them. they are "IT"!!! They will be forever in my number one spot for favorite music choices of all time!!!
