notes

Patrick Suler is the new voice of modern genre bending folk music. A guitar player of twenty six, he sings and writes haunting songs of love, luck, and despair. Since Patrick has sang and played in bands since his early teens, he is both experienced and soulful. Drawing on pop influences, he performs well structured songs replete with inventive finger picking and visually oriented lyrics. Patrick's influences include Nick Drake, Pink Floyd, Richard Thompson, among other sixties folk/rock artists. Patrick Suler beautifully integrates these sounds into his style of modern folk.

The Proof is evident in foremost in Daystar, Patrick's new self produced recording he released Halloween of `02. Building upon his solo acoustic arrangements, many of the songs feature a band to expand the impact of Patrick's songs; like he sings in Gameshow, track four, "...it's different when you're there, it's different with an audience..."; These produced tunes contrast elegantly with songs like Albatross, and Goodbye Blue Monday, which are straight shooter performances, just singing and finger picking. And that's how he's been promoting the disc, live on stage and college radio.

Patrick Suler wrote his first song at fourteen, when he received his fathers old beat up acoustic guitar. He started recording immediately onto a tape deck, using a microphone lent by his grandfather, who used to sing him Hank William songs.

Creative, Classy, and Emotional. Patrick Suler is more than a guy with a guitar; he is a dynamic performer, outstanding guitarist, and inventive songwriter. When Patrick sings, the music invites you to lose yourself, to explore, dream, or just listen.
