History:
Who knew that 5 people who share the same passion in music would cross each others paths? Billy Graziadei of Biohazard has been producing bands from many different parts of the world for the past several years. While producing the Groovenics record, Singer Karl Bernholtz and Billy found that they shared many common musical interests and soon Suicide City was born. Suicide City then hooked up with New York based drummer Dan Lamagna and Groovenics/Ghost Fight guitarist AJ Marchetta. Shortly after, Billy joined forces with Kittie bassist Jennifer Arroyo which solidified SUICIDE CITY.

In a world engulfed by corruption, hatred, injustice and an overwhelming lack of originality there are a few places where only the polar opposites lurk. One of these scarce locations is set in a city, a place built of creativity, originality and uncut energy. This place is simply known as Suicide City. Defined by the band members as dark, turbulent, romantic, and despair SC has already found itself a home in my heart.

It has taken roughly 24 hours before I could even gather the words properly together to describe the intensity of Suicide City. Even now I have little faith that this review can truly express just a pulse of their energy.

The stage is set; the location is The Saint night club in Asbury Park NJ. A crowd of people wait anxiously to bare witness to the debut of a perfect collaboration of talents. Formed of ex Kittie Bassist Jennifer Arroyo, Biohazards Billy Graziadei (guitar, vocals), AJ Marchetta (guitar), Dan Lamagna (drums) and Karl Bernholtz (vocals) this city is one you will never want to leave.

This energy I speak of can be seen all around from the "physical" stage presence of Karl Bernholtz, who at times reminds me of a young Mick Jagger, mixed with a scoop of Iggy Pop based on his body moments. His voice is as well unique and can only be described as pure and raw all at once.

Jennifer Arroyo as always holds her own with her glowing passion and love for music as she moves rhythmically with every note leaving you breathless. This goddess of bass never ceases to amaze me. Her voice flows melodically intertwining with Bernholtz and Graziadei to make one of the most incredible vocal impressions of all times.

What can be said about the talents of producer, engineer, guitarist and vocalist Billy Graziadei that haven't already been said before? Watching him play makes you want to pick up a guitar and learn to play a note , test your vocals and learn to sing or just grab a white button up and cover it in blood. Thanks for the set list Billy, you own!

AJ Marchetta is as well filled with the ability to please the crowd as he gets up close and personal with everyone he sees just to remind you that he fucking owns you. The sound of AJ's guitar along with Billy's reminds you that when you work together the sounds you can create are monumental.

Look at Suicide City and you shall find its flesh, feel Suicide City and you shall find its veins, hear Suicide City and you will find its heartbeat being pounded out by the drum sticks of Dan Lamagna. Fierce, energetic and powerful are only the basics for explaining this mans talent.

The set was flawless, playing fan favorite "Undone" giving the crowd a chance to scream out loud with the band. Among the songs played (Diemonds, Marching Backwards, Not My Year, She Waits, Give me your Pity & Diluted) we found ourselves in complete darkness followed by bright blue for a musical treat, "I hope you guy's liked the Crow!" a perfect opening for a SC version of the Cure's "Burn". I almost found myself breaking out my lighter but was left motionless in a state of euphoria as I listened.

A trip to Suicide City is in fact what a music lover needs in their lives. Original, Fierce, Sexy, melodic, dark, bright & beautiful are the only words I am left with.

    Awesome CD. One of the best if not THE BEST EP I have bought. I can't wait for these guys to put out a full length album. If you're a fan of Metal or Punk I would really recommend you look into this band. If you like what you hear(which I'm sure you will) grab a copy of their EP and help support the band. It is well worth it.

    Greeting from Russia, Moscow. I just wanted to say that the music is great. I followed the link from Biohazard site and guess what? I was not disappointed at all :) on the contrary I was really impressed, because Suicide City consists of true professionals and as a result the music kicks ass! The only thing that's confusing me is that 5 songs doesn't feel like a real album. I'm just wondering, is there more material coming soon?

    I had never heard of Suicide City until, like most of the other reviewers here, I saw them open for Mindless Self Indulgence at the Starland Ballroom in Jersey. The AKAs had vacated the stage after a less-than-stellar performance that left the crowd standing stock still and in no mood to put up with anything short of outstanding. Then the lights dimmed and Suicide City mounted the dais. The band had an air of confidence and professionalism about them that grabbed the crowd in an almost physical, visceral way that seemed to ask "you came just to see US, right?" Their performance was a flawless as any I have ever seen. Karl simply possessed his audience. Dan was relentless, AJ and Billy melted faces, and Jen left no doubt that Suicide City brings the full package to any venue (also, she is very very hot). The ONLY thing that could have made the show better would have been if the crowd had known the lyrics so we could sing along (I'm sure this will change soon). I bought a copy of "Not My Year" as soon as MSI wrapped up their set. All the energy of the live act somehow transfers with 100% fidelity to the disc. BUY THIS CD NOW!!

    The only real reason I give this 5 stars is because when I was at the video shoot for "give me your pity" (as an extra) I thought the members were very cool people. Fun to hand out with. And deff. made the enviroment comfortable.

    The cd is A-fuckin-MAZING!!!! It left me speechless!! I first heard of Suicide City when the went on tour with MSI. The 1st openning band, the AKA's, sucked ass. But then Suicide City came on and saved the day. Its hard to hold a candle to MSI but Suicide City's raw energy and awe-worthy stage presence make them on of the best live bands I've seen to date. I'm going to see them later this week at the Pontiac Grill in Philly and will attempt to get my hands on a copy of their new demo. GO BUY THIS CD, it'll pleasure your ear drums in ways that no ordinary mainstream noise can.

    This CD is so fucking amazing. I went to an MSI show & they were the second band to play, and, even as they got on-stage, I knew they would rock. After hearing the first song they played, I knew I had to go out & get the CD. When I first saw them outside the Ogden unloading the trailer, the first thing that went through my mind, 'Oh hell... Another MCR band...' But I was wrong. Anybody who loves rock or metal, or, even better, both, needs to get this album.

    I first heard of Suicide City when they came on tour with MSI. As they opened for my favorite band I realized this band is awesome. In the following week I learned more about the band and purchased the cd here. The cd came earlier than expected and it's a great cd. If you think listening to your Suicide City cd is "astonishing and amazing" imagine being in the front row of their concert and reaching out to touch the crotch of the lead singer like I did... ah huh, i'm cool now.

    This CD is exactly what the metal/rock world needs. The music and vocals blend together to create a huge moving force that makes you remember exactly why you started to listen to rock in the first place. From the CDs opener "Fuck Your Dreams" to the closeing song "Diemonds" The CD will leave you begging for more. The music gives a more emotional tie to the vocals of vocalist Karl. 5 Stars isn't even enough to describe this CD. I definetly suggest anyone to pick it up. This CD is in my top 3 and never leaves my CD player.

    South Florida hasn't been the same with The Groovenics. If it wasnt for those guys I would have never paid attention to Darwin's Waiting Room and Nonpoint. All this big deal about Billy. It was always Karl that electrified the crowd with laser beems on his arms, hanging upside down from the rafters. The clips from the album are crushing. Can't wait to see them open for MSI. Rawk the fawk out.

    Suicide City's Not My Year is an excellent example of high energy rock & roll, clean musicianship, introspective lyrics and bad ass attitude. The rythem section compliments well constructed guitar riffs without the trappings of caotic punk outbursts. The Lyrics are suited to enhance the band's instrumentals with introspective poety. Cover art and band photos give creedence to the a bright future for Suicide City in an image dominated market. Adda boy! and Girl!

    I was a little skeptical the first time I looked at this cd. I didn't know Suicide City very well at the time, so I ordered it. This is probably the best cd I have ever ordered!     It's really mindblowing how these people have taken the nu-metal sound and made it there own and true art. Ive seen them live and there a band that there music sounds just as good or better live when compared to the studio recording. They have a devoted soldier!

    I had heard some of these tracks on Suicide City's website and couldn't wait for the EP to come out. Plus the fact that it has Jennifer from Kittie and Billy from Biohazard made me want to check it out. I'm glad I did. Hope they tour behind this and then get some more tunes out. Basically, it sounds fresh to my ears and I love to hear new things. You could not go wrong with this EP.

    This CD is everything I expected and more. I heard the demo versions of the songs on this disc and they were amazing, but the final product is beyond words. I recommend this cd to everyone I know, and they have the same reaction. My favorite tracks would be "Give me Your Pity" (formerly known "Suicide City" when the band was known as Rodek) and of course "Undone" has always been an amazing song. I've been a fan of Suicide City since I first found out about them when they went by the name of Rodek, and been foaming at the mouth for a cd by them. I finally have it and it was well worth the wait.
