Pop/Jazz/Blues Vocalist Suede Celebrates her 25th Anniversary with a New Big Band CD!
“Dangerous Mood,” the eagerly awaited new CD from pop/jazz/blues vocalist Suede, featuring pianist Janice Friedman and the 12 piece Dangerous Big Band is the latest release by pop/jazz/blues phenom Suede.
Suede’s last DVD release currently airs nationally on PBS stations. Her recording of “Emily Remembers” garnered national radio airplay and recognition.
One part Rat Pack and one part Rosie Clooney, Suede is the "Diva la Difference" - sassy, classy and fun. She plays piano, trumpet and guitar, but voice is her first instrument and entertaining is her first love. On this new release she is backed by her New York based, hand picked, Dangerous Big Band of core trio and 9 piece horn section.
Imagine a cross between Ella Fitzgerald and Bette Midler, add a dash of Louis Armstrong, and you might get some idea of Suede's powerful presence, musical talents, and well honed skills. She is a consummate entertainer and song stylist among the likes of Tony Bennett and company - the classic singer's singer. Suede sings original material and pop, blues and jazz standards like nobody you've ever heard. Think sophisticated pop/jazz; think naughty blues with a sizzling trumpet, think love songs that make you swoon, think funny, think wow, what a voice!

the DIVA does it again
author: Ron "Ran" WaiteSuede is a self professed DIVA, and every one of her fans will swear that she is indeed. Suede is in top vocal form on "Dangerous Mood" and has offered us a titillating collection of covers. She excells with songs by Sammy Cahn, Tom Waits, Steven Schwartz, Randy Newman, George Gershwin, and Comden and Green. After to listening to Suede's versions--it's hard to believe that anyone else has sung these songs before her. My absolute favorites are the jazzy "Dangerous Mood," the witty lyrics of "I Like to Lead When I Dance," the wail of the trombone on "New Coat of Paint," the showstopping "Defying Gravity," and the clever "You Can Leave Your Hat On." I enjoyed the entire album, but these are destined to be classics! The liner notes of this CD state that "This CD is the realization of a longtime dream--to sing big band arrangement written especially for my voice and style." For all of us, it was worth the wait and then some. This is Suede at her sophisticated finest and even Christian Siriano would have to agree that she is just so "FIERCE!"
