notes
Hip-Hop that hits you. The very first thing you hear is an orchestra conductor tapping on his music stand, clearing his throat to get their attention. You then can imagine sitting in the orchestra hall as the music starts. Before you know it Stre Loc & Five One hit you with fire breathing rhymes and slammin' double bass as "Run For Cover" brings you into the hot new album, Menace II Sobriety.
Stre Loc & Five One are a duo team of emcees who have been settin' the northwest on fire and getting attention everywhere having performed with: Sir Mix-A-Lot, 2 Live Crew, Yukmouth, Roscoe, Tilo and more. Stre Loc is punchy, quick, and agile. Five One, from South Carolina, has an unmistakable, smooth southern style with a drawl. The album, produced by Gordon Hall, also features true turntable skills on tracks 3, 6, and 16 by "DJ Gumbeaux", a well-known, contest winning freestyle DJ from New Orleans. You'll also hear squeaky clean vocal dynamics from "Silva" on tracks 6 and 16.
As the tracks play, you'll be transitioned smoothly through all kinds of moods. If you woke up and already know you're having a "Bad Day", you'll listen to #4. If you're creasin' up your pants to go find a shorty, flip to #6 for "P***y 2nite". If you're at the bachelor party, or on you're way to the "Scrip Club", you'll be in the mood for #13.
Menace II Sobriety has something for everyone and will no doubt make it into CD players and radio stations across the globe.
