The inspiration started more than 20 years ago when I would listen to Jesus Christ Superstar endlessly. Then came the 80's, and the synthesizer, Heaven 17, Human League, Alphaville, Pet Shop Boys, Eurythmics, and then... Strange Angels. Your classic 'one man band' in the vein of The The, Nine Inch Nails, & Lightning Seeds.
I'm drawn to Science Fiction with a decidedly spiritual side-Blade Runner, Dune, J.G Ballard, Doria Russles 'The Sparrow'-I wanted the music to be cinematic, supernatural, and futuristic, dealing with alienation and, ultimately, hope.

A Most Accomplished Album
author: Carl Jenkinson, The Source, London, England
'Blood' gets straight down to business & contains, in magical minutes, everything that the Strange Angels sound is about. 'Leave Me' keeps the standard high before giving way to the masterpiece that is 'Will I See The Day'. Starting in an unmistakeably symphonic style, this is a piece brim full of emotion & longing. Gradys vocals sound like they're being ripped from his heart. 'Forever Alive' is another heartfelt piece which closes a solidly superb CD.

unique blend of dance music, progressive rock and just plain strangeness
author: Lexicon Magazine
Remember when you first heard Shriekback? I do. I was at a fraternity party when 'Nemisis' came on. It blew me away. In a genre cluttered with cookie cutter bands and imagination limited to drum machine presets, Strange Angels jumped out at me in exactly the same way. Nicely complex drum patterns, plenty of de rigeur electronic sounds plus a well placed string bed make this music closer to some sort of avant garde classic piece than synthpop. Special mention should be made of Michael Gradys vocals. While he at times sounds like Peter Murphy, he is a far more refined and agile singer, able to actually hit notes instead of singing around them. Perhaps Strange Angels is not for everyone, but if you like big night music with just a touch of EC horror, then this is for you. Highly recommended.

otherworldly
author: Julie Gehm
This CD may take more than one listening to in order to fully comprehend it's intricacies. Michael Grady's vocals are evocative, the orchestration is lush, while the melodies are hypnotic. Highly recommended. An outstanding musical accomplishment.
