(About MP3 downloads at CD Baby)

A family band that plays bare-bones, American, lyric-driven rock.

notes

The Stone Coyotes are a bare-bones rock family trio. They have been taking the road less travelled ever since they gave back songwriter Barbara Keith's major label advance years ago and began searching for their own sound their own way in a cellar in Western MA. With five songs featured in Elmore Leonard's novel, "Be Cool", they gained national attention, but it is the grass roots, word-of-mouth response to their music that continues their momentum. Their music gets a lot of play on XM Satellite Radio (XCountry and Deep Tracks), and they tour through MA, NY, PA, OH and TX several times a year. "VIII" is their eighth album.

I am a dedicated worshipper of the coyotes- they never let me down! Barbara, you are the first lady of rock. Olin just got a '69 Chevelle SS and there was a sweet Nova I couldn't keep my eyes off of (we were down in Atlanta finding him his dream ride)- "Brand New Car" speaks to my own yearning- thanks again my favorite family!

I first learned of/heard of this band on XM40 and have not been able to get enough since. I have collected and regularly listen to all of their albums and was afraid this might be the one that stops the streak. No way! As a 53 year old audiophile and life-long devotee of rock music in most of it's genres I can say that any of their albums, no, actually all of their albums belong in any serious collection of rock music. The lyrics speak to my soul and the music is at the heart of what rock should be;solid drums, great support from the bass and leads, whether guitar or piano, that actually do what they are supposed to...set the tone for the song's story. Add all of this to Barbara Keith's unique vocal style and you get one heck of a classic, american rock experience. VIII continues the run, adding another dozen to a great american playlist.
