Jim St.James

His heart felt ballads on love, lost & found, along with songs of truth and hope, vividly stimulate the heart, mind & soul. Songs like 'If Not For You', 'Too Much To Ask' and 'Watertight', make strong statements on matters of the heart, while others like 'One Life' , 'Devil's Road' and 'Who Needs Enemies' present a softly humorous but realistic view of our daily lives in the human race. Given just one listen, almost anyone can find themselves living in the stories and poetry of Jim St. James.

Guitars & Radios features Jim St. James on lead vocals and percussive tap guitar, Vic Saul on backing vocals and percussive tap guitar, Nashville writer/performer Barbara Cloyd on backing vocals, Marc Kunkel on harmonica, Mike Slusser on mandolin and singer/songwriter/producer Michael Shipley on Lead guitar, bass guitar & piano. (Rick Watson on piano and acoustic lead & bass guitars on 'Heavenly') The CD was recorded and engineered in the summer of 2000 by the late Michael Shipley at his Nashville, Tennessee based "Greystone Studios" in Berry Hill. Michael and Jim oversaw the production of the CD with the guidance and advice of UK/US artist/singer/songwriter & friend Vic Saul. Final mixing was performed at 'Back Porch Tracks' by Rick Watson.

Heard James at Blue Bird Cafe in January 2001, while I was waiting to hear a cowriting partner of mine play and I was just simply amazed. But for some reason that night has stayed with me musically so I was happy to stumble across his web page.

Every so often a song or group of songs arrives just in time to accompany a memorable period in life. Guitars and Radios is that CD. No fluff, no hype. Just put it in your player and prepare to sit back and reflect. And sometimes wipe away a few tears, sometimes smile. This is the Real thing.

    author: Dick Falls

Real deal songwriting, a welcome change from all this teen based shallow pop/video led garbage we are constantly bombarded with these days! Some of the tracks sound very influenced by British Artist, Vic Saul !?

  • Watertight!

As a fellow songwriter and housemate, I spent several months listening to Jim create from the other side of the wall. As our life's work has carried us towards different ends, I am thankful to have a solid recording of the many emotions that Jim taught me, and captured in this CD.
