New Set Of Rules, the long-awaited third CD from B.B. and the Stingers, the blues-rock power trio led by late New Jersey guitar hero Bernie "B.B." Brausewetter, will be released Sunday, July 22, 2007 at a memorial tribute concert at the legendary Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ.
Brausewetter, who died on April 15, was renowned and much loved as a musician's musician as well as a teacher and mentor to young guitarists. A fearless player, Brausewetter with the Stingers ventured beyond the blues to embrace heavy rock, surf, psychedelia, swing, fusion, and rockabilly. On a trip to Memphis in 2003, Brausewetter suffered a heart attack and underwent emergency bypass surgery. Upon his recovery, he resumed gigging and recording with a vengeance, with songs about his Memphis ordeal ("Heart Attack in Memphis") and his post-illness outlook on life ("A New Set of Rules"). Other highlights include "Leave the Door Wide Open," "Hand Me Down Love," the Hendrix-flavored "Wanted Man," and the hard-driving "Gonna Die Tryin '." The 15-track CD was co-produced by Steven DeAcutis. Brausewetter wrote all the songs except "Lover," co-written by Brausewetter and the late Ralph Jones, and the Yardbirds cover "Heart Full of Soul."
Besides Brausewetter on guitar and vocals, the CD features Dave Carta on bass and Joe Nevolo on drums. Ralph Jones contributes bass and vocals to several songs, and Nancy Swarbrick (harmonica) and Barbara Hahn (backing vocals) guest. Previous CDs by the band include B.B. and the Stingers (1994) and 1st Blues Band on Venus (1998), both released in the U.S. and Europe. In addition, the song "Slow Burn" is included on Attack of the New Killer Surf Guitars (1997) and a live version of "Haunted House" is included on Jersey's Talkin – Live (2002). -- Press release

Full Circle
author: Roger SchumacherOnce again Bernie burns up the guitar on the best CD the Stingers have released to date. I have seen Bernie and Stingers play many times and yet this collection is the one to me that captures the energy and essence that is this music. Songs like New set of rules and Gonna die tryin' lay down the meat and soul that is Bernie and this electricfing trio. Along with some insightful lyrics and the lightning guitar work of Bernie make for a great listening pleasure. The Stingers provide the back drop needed for a journey into soul written blues and emotion. Just listen and you'll see what I mean. R.I.P. Bernie you are and always will be missed.
