notes
"Retreat-the Guitar of Stan Stepnowski" is a soothing, inspirational CD of over 42 minutes of beautifully played solo guitar. It's perfect for mediation, relaxation or background music at work or home. 21 tracks are arranged in a collection of traditional and contemporary sacred melodies like "The Water is Wide", "Abide with Me", "On Eagle's Wings" and "Eternal Father (the Navy Hymn)". There are also three inspired original pieces. The tone of each piece varies from bright, shimmering steel stringed guitar to the mellow nylon strings of classical guitar.
Stan Stepnowski has been a performing guitarist for over fifteen years. He has played steel string, classical, electric, and bass guitar at Catholic liturgies since 1992 as well as at coffeehouses, charity events and even at sea while serving in the Navy. His playing encompasses old hymns and contemporary songs using a fingerstyle technique that combines melody, chords, and bass notes using the right hand to pluck the strings. He lives in Northern Virginia and attends and plays guitar at Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Arlington with his wife, Jennifer. Stan has also played on Monica Perz-Waddington's CD "Truly Loved", also available on cdbaby.com.
Sales of this CD go to benefit the social justice ministries at Saint Charles Borromeo Church in Arlington, VA.

peaceful, masterful and gentle playing
author: Dawn KJust right. peaceful, not boring. really inspired playing that carrys the spirit through the listener and heals the soul, but not overtly. Lifting, not demanding.
Great relaxation & worship music
author: Tim DouglassI bought this disk because of the CD Baby recomendation. It is a wonderful collection of very nicely done praise and worship music. The guitar playing isn't overdone or pretentious and the feeling I get listening to it is one of peace and reverence. I have been listening to it almost constantly since I got it.
Beautiful and heartfelt. Great for any occasion!

very good for meditation
author: Deacon David KohutThis CD is filled with inspirational music played on a classical guitar. It offers an atmosphere of serenity to the listener. It has familiar melodies and a few newer songs that fit well with the other selections. We used this CD as background for meditation during two retreats in our parish. The response was very favorable.
