notes

Steph Pappas digs deep into a North America viewed from backroads, back porches, sleeping bags, apple orchards, and cold city streets and comes up with a collection of intense acoustic folk with a twist of low-down-and-dirty harmonica blues. Steph is a true blue original.

Serving up this folk rock potluck are the mainline sounds of guitar and vocals, laced with trumpet, fiddle, tambourine and banjo accents. It's Americana at its best.

Steph's songs are gritty, honest renditions of life on the road, often penned during tours by Greyhound bus and a stint as an interstate truck driver, and honed onstage in response to audience feedback. They are the soul of true American music. Her sound is so powerful and distinctive, folk music diva, Odetta, asked for Steph's autograph after witnessing her performance.

Steph has performed from Vermont to California, Texas to Canada, sharing the stage with Ani DiFranco, Odetta, and Jorma Kaukonen, to name a few. Her most recent release, 3 Wishes, was chosen by Vermont's largest newspaper, The Burlington Free Press, as top CD of the year, and songs have been aired by Americana and folk rock DJ's - nationally and internationally.

Check out Steph's web site for her current touring schedule and catch the experience live!

"One part Joan Armatrading, one part Bruce Springsteen, one part Jimi Hendrix, one part of the artist now again known as Prince - and if you mix it all up right you get an approximation of Steph Pappas." Jeff Miller, Burlington (VT) Coffeehouse

  • This is a painting for your ears.
    author: SAMY

She slings sounds like Jackson Pollock flung paint only to unravel and reveal the largest slice of American subconscious right before your ears in all its beauty, pain, hope and joy. This is the highest form of art.
