Stealing Heather's music has been compared to the likes of Coldplay, Keane, Stereophonics, and Nada Surf (with a bit of The Cure thrown in just for good measure). Powerful and insightful, Joshua Aaron's writing evokes the emotion and energy that so many of us can relate to.
When asked to explain the meaning behind the name Stealing Heather, Aaron had this to say; "Over the years I've watched as our society has taken a turn for the worse. When I sat down and really thought about it I realized that everything we do stems from the youth of our culture. When I was growing up I'd watch the Smurfs or Garfield on Saturday mornings. Today, everything presented to our children deals with violence and negativity. We are only creatures of our environment and the more we keep presenting our children with these images and sounds the more we will be forced to watch the outcome unfold. We are essentially stealing the innocence of our children. The name Heather just seemed to be the essence of a pure young girl."

Stealing Heather makes a heartfelt connection

"It's a moment in time you better dare to be great..." Thus reads a line from "Empty Space," a song off the new release "6 Minutes to Somewhere" from Stealing Heather: The band is ready to do just that: Take that moment, be great - and succeed.
With a sound that's been compared to Coldplay and Stereophonics, Stealing Heather has carved out a niche for itself, but isn't stopping there. The CD has been five years in the making. Front man Joshua Aaron explained why: "I will never try to write. I don't force a song, they just come to me. If I try to force it, it's always less than it should be. The five-minute stuff always makes the record."
With 90 or so songs the prolific Aaron wrote for this record, he undoubtedly had a large pool from which to choose. Aaron, the band's chief songwriter and composer, is pleased with how "6 Minutes" turned out. "At some point, you have to say, 'This is where I'm at in my life, this is the job that was done and is the best at that point' then you move on. I have no complaints."
Neither do Stealing Heather fans, which Aaron's been pleased to find out. With more than 8500 fans on it's Myspace site, the band is gaining fans. Aaron makes time to keep in touch with fans - a practice the genuinely sincere guy intends to continue. "As much as I love writing the songs and being in the studio, there's nothing better to me than an audience response - if I can look out and connect with someone on that level, where they know the lyrics and songs, it's amazing. There's nothing like it"
The band was recently asked to headline The Angel of Hope Benefit, something Aaron is happy to do. The event will raise funds for Lifebanc.
As for the future, the band is setting up tour dates and looking into worldwide appearances. With its solid debut and a penchant for helping worthy causes, Stealing Heather should have no trouble stealing the attention and winning the hearts of fans.

Stealing Heather - Local Spotlight

When it comes to songwriting, subtlety wins in the end. This is exactly what comes to mind with the alluring, midtempo, "It's All OK," from Stealing Heather's debut release "6 Minutes To Somewhere." Instead of falling for easy hooks and breezy melodies, singer Joshua Aaron delivers tormented vocals ("You're trying to relax but your mind is playing tricks/Would it make more sense to give up than just to give in") to lead the way through the darkness as an accompanying acoustic guitar provides either a hint of hope or salt in the wound. Falling under the brit-pop umbrella, Stealing Heather spreads its wings with favorable results. Sure, there are plenty of touchstones to the "90's alt-rock scene, but in the end, "6 Minutes to Somewhere" shows more promise than it does retread. Invariably, somewhere is better than nowhere, making Stealing Heather a band worth keeping your eye on.
